This was a really great experience - I visited with my son (13 years old) and we both really enjoyed everything we saw and tried during our three hour visit. The story around Intrepid - the engagements during WWII and during The Cold War was really interesting and seeing what the sailors had experienced during that period teached us both a lot. Also seeing the Space shuttle IRL was a fantastic experience - this has actually been the best museum visit during the ten days in NYC we have enjoyed.

Concorde Tour is great, better part when you sit behind the cockpit. The tour guy Chris is a lot of fun, he love that stuff. Lot of history in that ship.

My husband and I purchased tickets for the 4th of July fireworks with tour on the Intrepid and it could not have been any more perfect. It was extremely organized, more than adequately staffed with friendly and knowledgeable people, and plenty of good barbecue food.

The event, for us, started with a tour of the Concorde led by our tour guide, Chris, who was fantastic. We weren't sure we would appreciate the tour, but it was included with the price of the ticket - and Chris was great, full of neat information and he took our picture in the cockpit of the Concorde. A great tour and we will consider another in the future!

After the tour we proceeded up to the flight deck (which is where we purchased our tickets) and were amazed at how roomy the venue was. We were concerned they would over-pack (sell) the event and there would be mobs of people, with obstructed views. This was definitely not the case.

There was plenty of room, food and beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) which never ran out. On top of that, was the security aboard the ship. Ever present, friendly and gave us a true sense of safety.

But the best part of the venue was the ever present reminder why we were there to begin with.... to celebrate our country's freedom, which so many men and women have given their lives, limbs and souls for. Our honored Veterans were seated in the VIP section - and their presence throughout the evening was a reminder of how fortunate we, as Americans, are because of their bravery.

The beautiful view of the barges on the Hudson River, the music (not too loud and not too soft) made watching the Macy's 4th of July fireworks simply perfect!

There are not enough outstanding adjectives to display what a SPECTACULAR job the staff at the Intrepid did to make this expensive event worth every single cent and more. KUDOS, and thank you for a a once in a lifetime experience which we will always remember!

That was the summary of 5 boys aged 15, 13, 8, 6 and 5 after a visit to The Intrepid Museum in New York City on a miserable day of torrential rain. Although this meant we were not able to spend any time on the flight deck itself, there was masses to see inside and worth the wet dash across the deck to the submarine. We have been to museums like this all over the world - California, Australia and of course several different ones in London and the UK, but being on a actual aircraft carrier and a submarine was a first for us. The volunteers on board the submarine had lots of fascinating facts to share with us and were well worth spending time talking to. Our group included grandparents too who thought it was excellent and enjoyed watching the boys playing in the interactive part of the museum. The boys had to be dragged away from capsules, boats, activities and planes! The movie of the story of the Intrepid was a great way to start our exploration of the museum. For a family group, this was an outstanding way to spend the afternoon.

We went to the Intrepid today for the grand re-opening of the Space Shuttle Pavilion. As with our last visit (July 2012) all the staff and volunteers were cheerful and happy to help guide and direct. There is an endless supply of information here, as well as interactive exhibits. If you wanted to, you could make a whole day of it.
