“Unique Piece of American History”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

On my last two trips into NYC this building was closed due to the "Occupy" activities. It was open in August and my son and I took advantage of the opportunity to visit. There are unique exhibits related to the birth of the country (the platform upon which Washington stood when he took the oath of office as the first ever President of the USA, the words of his address, photo exhibits of presidents through the years, history of the building and many references to Alexander Hamilton and his role in early American politics (you can see his grave on the grounds of the nearby Trinity Church). It is well worth a visit and is available free of charge.

“Part of the Revolution history”
Reviewed September 1, 2012

Federal Hall in NYC has its place in the history of the American Revolution as much as Independence Hall in Philadelphia or Faneuil Hall, Old South Meeting House and other Boston historic sites. Yes, New York played an important part of the history of the United States, being its capital for a while. At Federal Hall (actually not in the building as we see it today), which was City Hall, George Washington has been sworn in as President.
Piece of the balcony where he stood is still in exibit in Federal Hall.
The exibit also show the evolution of the building across the years.
When we were there, there was an exibit about the press photographers, showing great pictures taken of the Presidents in different occasions, some akward, some scaring, some touching.
Federal Hall is a must see in lower Manhattan (Financial district). It is right by the NYSE.

“Nice National Park Service building right downtown”
Reviewed August 23, 2012

We liked the exhibits. Glad we went to the bookstore for the NPS Passport stamp before we saw the exhibit--not something we usually do--as when we were ready to leave, the bookstore was closed (at 2 PM!!), prematurely. We would have liked more time to explore the building more than we did.

“Take the time ti go in!”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

They have several really cool things to see inside. They have the bible Washington used during his inauguration as very as some of the original vaults first used by the treasury department. Its free to go in and takes ten minutes tops to pass through. Great tour guides inside as well :-)
