“Great place”
Reviewed October 17, 2011

My husband and I stayed her Sept 29 and Oct 1 with our two small children. We rented the two bedroom suite and we can't say enough about how great it was. It was wonderful to have a balcony even if it rained both nights! The living area and main bedroom were veer spacious. Colin and all of his staff were great. The breakfast was perfect for us. We wanted to stay a bit off from Times Square and this was perfect. One night we ate directly across the street at Beccos and one night in the attached restaurant. The only complaint we had was that the elevator was down the entire stay. It was a big walk for a three year old and a six year old the entire weekend. However, all of the staff was veer apologetic even though it was not in their control. The elevator company was working on it several times. We were given a credit without wen asking. We would definitely go back at the $600 rate we paid but probably not the $800 rate. Great place!

We stayed here for 5 nights and although the room was compact (we couldn't stretch to one of the many larger rooms) it was spotless and beautifully decorated. The shower was excellent and the bed comfortable. The only niggling thing was a lack of space to put anything in the bathroom like wash bags etc.

The hotel is situated about 5 minutes walk from Times Square and 10 mins walk from the SW tip of Central park so the location is perfect. There are lots of superb restaurants on the same street, notably Becco and Don't Tell Mama, both which offer better food than anything in the "Little Italy" district. However, the Bourbon Street bar is on the ground floor of the hotel and was without doubt our favourite bar we went to in NY. A great atmosphere, friendly staff and really good Creole/American-style fayre. Perfect for a beer and a bite to eat after a hard day's sightseeing.

The staff at the hotel reception are also excellent, really chatty and helpful.

The thing which stops it getting a full 5 stars is that fact that the lift only worked for 1 day out of the 5 we stayed there. It's clearly a huge problem and the manager was clearly frustrated having to call out repair men all the time but seeing previous TripAdvisor comments along the same lines they really need to sort it for good. It must also make the job of the cleaning staff extremely difficult over ca. 5 floors!

Overall though, an excellent character hotel and, for NY, very reasonable priced.

Room Tip: Street facing rooms are obviously noisier than back rooms and the higher you go the quieter it is. W...

This hotel was so tiny, at first we were stumble by the entrance. Our room was long and narrow, the bed was against the wall of the entryway, but the decor was romantic and modern. We were worry about the noise from the bar below, but since we were there Monday through Wednesday nights, there were no big noise, except for some sound of chairs being moved around. In the morning, we and another couple were confused as where to go for the free breakfast. We witnessed the manager yelling at some lady. The breakfast had great French coffee, The proximity to Times Square and other activities are great. We would consider staying here again if not for the price, but then it's has to be that price for being near Times Square. Overall, a very nice experience.

This is a really great hotel .The friendly welcoming staff at French Quarters puts this hotel way ahead of any of it's competitors. The athmosphere on arrival is relaxed which helps you to relax too, unlike so many rushed and fussy hotels. The rooms are the same as pictured in their website with wonderful French decor and super comfy beds. The hotel has a great bar and restaurant next door, very nice food and good value for money too.The hotel is situated within easy walking distance to Times Square 8-10 mins.We received a free upgrade to a double suite, elegant luxurious and spacious with all the mod cons you could wish for .
We will stay at this hotel again and will highly recommend to our family and friends.
Speical thanks to Colin and John for a highly enjoyable stay .

had a last minute need to stay in the city...due to the un security council in session hotels were nearly all sold out and had incredibly high rates...took a chance on this hotel based on tripadvisor reviews and was not disappointed. we were warned the only room left was over the bar/restaurant downstairs, & it would be very noisy, but as we were going to a concert at the beacon, we knew we would be back late anyway, the noise would not be an issue for us.(we did catch about the last 45 mins of noise from downstairs, but honestly, it wasn't that bad) we were so pleasantly surprised by the charming room, and lovely bathroom (huge!)
colin checked us in and was very friendly & made us feel welcome. loved the decor & most importantly the room was immaculate. we are planning on staying again, and recommended already to friends who travel to ny often. didn't take advantage of the free breakfast, but it was nice to have a keurig in the room so we had coffee/tea before heading out.

Room Tip: we were over the restauran/bar downstairs, which we were warned was noisy, but i don't thonk it...

I have stayed here a couple of times for business, and enjoyed it so much I brought my wife with me as well. Good breakfast included, and wi-fi very easy to use for business (both included with room). Service was a real differentiator -- front desk (Torrey, John, Stefany) were very helpful and knowledgeable of local area. Michael (served breakfast) went they extra mile to insure we were taken care of. I would definitely recommend, and will return to this property.

Great food/rooms/rates/service.
We had a 2-day retirement party there and enjoyed a couple of plays within walking distance. It's part of Restaurant Row, with dozens of other fine eateries. After dining at their Bourbon Street restaurant, the French Quarters GM Colin gave us another recommendation for fine dining. It was one of Lidia's restaurants, just across the street. It was like Macy's telling customers to go to Gimbel's. That's class.
Great beds. And I can say that because they have regular patrols of bed-bug-sniffing dogs.
Most of all I remember how the owners cared for firefighters/police/EMTs after 9/11. They provided free rooms and meals for days. And they are dedicated to entertaining our military men and women. That's part of the reason why I stay there when I'm in NYC.

Room Tip: Corner suites are large enough for group parties and the balcony has some spectacular views.
