Stayed here from Fri. 24/5/13 to 31/5/13 in a 1 bed apartment, with my wife and 12 year old son. Location is first class, on 49th Street, 50 metres from 7th Avenue. We were on the 8th floor at the rear of the block. The apartments were clean and were cleaned daily, lots of big fluffy white towels were left every day. We never waitedl more than 2 mins. for the lift and the lobby is beautiful with marbled floors. Staff were always pleasant, and one of them even arranged a private cab for our return journey which turned up promptly for our return journey and cost $65 dollars. They do this for a lot of their guests (word of warning here, book your return journey at least 4 hours before your flight home. It took us 2 hours to get to the airport because of Traffic. It was also the same on our arrival. The rooms have fridge with a freezer compartment and a cooker. Utensils are basic, but that was not a problem for us as we only ate breakfast inside the apartment what we bought from several local shops (cereals etc.). Our bedroom had 2 double beds and a pull out sofa in the living area.
Gershwin Theatre is a 5 to10 minute walk around the corner and we saw 'Wicked' here. Centre of Times Square is a 5 minute walk away. Rockefeller Centre and Radio City Music Hall are literally 2 to 300 metres away. We also walked to Central Park which is an easy 15 To 20 min. walk north (you can see the trees of the park from 7th Avenue, 50 yards from the apartments). We also walked to The Empire State Building which again is an easy 15 to 20 min stroll then onto the Flatiron building another 5 min walk further down 5 th Avenue. We even walked to 'Circle Line Cruises' on Pier 83 along Restaurant Row through Hells Kitchen and this took us a steady 20 to 25 minutes from the apartments. We also had a steady 20 minute Walk to Madison Square Garden one evening, a place I had always wanted to see.
There are several eateries next door to the apartments which look outstanding (we never used these places) but by glimpsing in it was obvious they were really nice. This part of 49th Street does not look 'that great' on Google Earth, but rest assured this area is obviously a 'very nice area' when observed at close quarters! There are lots of vendors nearby (on 6th Avenue) selling food etc. I bought fruit from a couple of these and it was outstanding quality! Also Ice creams on our travels.
The subway is also a 100 metre walk and the 'yellow R Line, got us down to Wall Street/Ground Zero area in 10 to 15 minutes.
The staff also have a room where you can leave your luggage on departure day.
To get straight to the point, these apartments made our holiday. We all fell in love with NYC and these apartments are the only place I would consider next time we go.
