“Great deal in the heart of the city”
Reviewed February 26, 2010

Stayed here for a weekend with my partner. The staff was friendly, the breakfast was plentiful, room was extremely clean (yet tight) and you can't beat the location. The street is under construction which makes it seem a little less desirable. We did not feel unsafe there at all (and even walked home at 1am). Only complaint was the bathroom vent seemed to take amplify the wind (presumably from the shaft) being so high up (28th floor). When we shut the door, couldn't hear it anymore. Would definately stay again and recommend. Great value.

Its true, being midblock on 40th St. next to Port Authority is seedy, I don't think my wife would stay here alone, but if you're traveling on business you can't beat the rate, with huge free breakfast, comfortable bed and great staff.

I liked the breakfast. After a hard party night in NY, they have a lot of good stuff. And fresh orange juice. Mjam!

I travel a lot for work (about 45 weeks out of the year) and try to stay at Marriott's whenever possible. Usually the Marriott's in Manhattan are out of my company budget price range, but was able to book several weeks at Fairfield Inn for < $200 a night. This is a new hotel, with free breakfast, and nice new rooms of decent size for Manhattan. Gym is also not too bad by Manhattan standards. The location is not great as other people said in past reviews as it is a bit sketchy street with porn shops and next to bus terminal, and as I'm in NYC a lot Times Square is not a great place to be. But if you can get this hotel for < $200 I would definitely recommend it, especially if you like the Marriott points like me.

I stayed here with my boyfriend over Halloween weekend in 2009. We took a cab from the airport and got dropped right outside the hotel which was great. Check in was quick and went very smoothly. Our room was situated on the 27th floor (probably not great for those with vertigo) and we had an amazing view of the Empire State Building from our room. The room was quite small however had all the usual things... gorgeous big Marriott bed, wardrobe, desk, chair etc. All the fixtures and fittings were modern and looked like new (this hotel only opened in 2009 apparently). The bathroom again was quite bijou however a nice big shower, basin and bowl. Breakfast was the usual Marriott fayre with muffins, pastries, bagels, fruit, yoghurt etc all included. If you're a fan of Krispy Kreme donuts you're in for a treat as fresh ones were available every morning. The room where breakfast was served was quite dark (seemed as though it was underground!!!) and did get quite busy, however we always managed to get a table. The hotel was in an excellent location, literally five minutes walk from Times Square. Some people have commented on here that the road where the hotel is situated is a little scary, however we never had any problems, and due to it being right next to the bus terminal, there was always a lot of traffic and cabs etc passing by. The hotel reception staff were great and always happy to help. If I ever go back to NYC, I would definately stay here as it was cheap and cheerful!

We went to Fairfield Inn by Marriot whith an expectation, but our stay was much better ! There are excelent services, free breakfast, free business center and free coffe, milk and chocolat ao day and night long.
The flat was another think very nice. Whith LCD TV, coffe, good structure and the most important, a big and confortable bed ! To complete, It's possible to get a newspaper for free every morning !The location is not so good but even it's so close to Times Square !
Go there and enjoy !

We stayed in that hotel in January 2010 for 7 nights. First of all I’d like to mention staff of a hotel – all persons with who I communicated were nice and friendly and always tried to help in all my questions.
We checked in very quickly in the room we have asked in our preferences – it was 1 King on the high floor. There are 8 rooms on the floor. Our room was not near the elevator and it was good, cause when our neighbour left his room we heard it. Noise insulation is not good enough.
The room itself was very nice – good size, handy furniture, everything is new and clean. Very comfortable bed. The same I can say and about the bathroom.
Housekeeping was at high level, every day without misses.
We had a free wired internet in the room which was very convenient. At lobby they have free wireless internet and 3 computers.
Breakfast was good. In other reviews there was listed what they offer so I won’t repeat that. Only I want to say that we always found the vacant seat to have a breakfast and there were no problems with that.
The location of the hotel is very good – 2 blocks from Time Square, with metro station in 50 meters and with a number of nice restaurants in neighbourhood. Yes there is bus terminal in front of the hotel, but ask for room at high floor and you won’t see and hear it. The only things which can annoy are construction and the scaffold near the hotel.
In addition the hotel has jym at the ground floor and in the nearest future they plan to open bar at the highest floor which should have excellent Manhattan view.

As a whole I highly recommend that hotel to everybody. Ratio between price/quality is optimal.
