Staying in midtown NYC for a couple of wks...this location just off 5th Ave...classic steakhouse feel ...rather masculine in decor ...bread basket very nice ... Patty waited on us very attentive without being intrusive..dinner service for steak a la carte ....let us know sides were large enough to easily share between two. We shared a Cesar salad, for main course I ordered filet mignon and my husband had surf and turf...steaks cooked perfectly medium rare....shared asparagus and huge baked potato ...had enough to take home. Pretty pricey...but good. I have to complement the wait staff friendly, professional and eager to answer questions about the menu or even local points of interest ... When asked about good local breakfast/brunch locations mentioned several of their local favs....

My husband and I had read reviews on Yelp and Trip Advisor and thought the reviews as well as the menu were worth trying the place. None of the them did Uncle Jack's the justice it deserves. In one word AMAZING! We ate there on a Friday evening during Lent so no steak for us (although we will return for the steaks they looked and smelled AMAZING). We started with a Caesar Salad, it smelled fantastic and tasted amazing. We then had a shrimp cocktail, HUGE shrimp, incredible! For our entree we ordered the Broiled Salmon and a side of the creamed spinach. I can say honestly ...... It was the best meal I have ever experienced in NYC. For dessert we chose the Banana Bread Pudding it is not to be missed. We travel to NYC typically 2 to 3 times a year and try new places each time we come, but this is now going to be a "we have to go there" place. The staff was by far the most attentive of any place we have ever been. And we have had the pleasure of eating at some pretty amazing restaurants. Among them Everest in Chicago , Le Bec Fin in Philadelphia, SAAM in Los Angeles, French Laundry in Yountville (Napa) and Uncle Jack's service was as good if not better than any of these. The prices were comparable to other steak houses we looked at. Our experience was priceless!!

What was amazing - The food! What was not was our waiter. We asked him to split the check so we could expense it for business and it annoyed him so much that he was not very short and snippy after we requested it when we placed our order. Our food came out an hour and a half later but the manager came over to apologize and sent a round of drinks and dessert on the house. So besides the person we had to deal with constantly(our waiter) the restaurant was impressive but he made us very uncomfortable while waiting for dinner.

We very much enjoyed our lunch at Uncle Jack's Steakhouse today. We were originally looking for a place to have a bite and catch the end of the Syracuse game. Instead we ended up in a lovely restaurant that happened to have a small TV over the bar. We ordered the prix fixe lunch. We are at the bar. The service was outstanding. Although it was a little pricey, everything was so well presented and fresh that you really won't mind spending a little extra. It was a great way to get off your feet in the city. Next time I would try the lobster bisque.

We were the last table to be served on a Saturday night and you would of thought that we were the first of the evening. From accommodating our daughters with split filets to exceptional service, combined with classic decor and exceptional steaks, this was the perfect last evening for our family in NYC!
