Went with a group of business colleagues on a midweek evening and I would say this place is very well suited to such a group. I had delicious crabcake for a starter, packed with good quality crabmeat. For main, we basically shared a bunch of porterhouse steaks, which just made things a little easier given the size of the group. I'm not sure this place would attract if I was dining in a much smaller group.

We went there for Valentine's dinner and were impressed by the delicious steak ( had the steak for two)! Never experienced that perfect taste before! However, service was ok but has some room for improvement! The atmosphere was nice but the temparature a bit cold (we had a table right next to the window).

Luger's without Brooklyn or cash, fantastic Porterhouse, bacon, tomatoes and onions, blue cheese, martinis and red wine. The bar service is awesome and there is usually a game on in the background, never to crowded like up on Park Ave. Also had the pleasure to hit the one in Honolulu and the consistency is there, they have it down to a science.

We had dinner here with 6 of us in town on business. We were seated upon arrival and our coats where checked by the lovely girls up front.

The food was really good and the steak was fantastic, but the service was spotty. I liked our waiter, he was good at his job, but his backup staff sucked.

We ordered 2 magnums of very expensive wine over the course of our meal, and were very pleased how our waiter handled the wine service. He did a good job with our order, with the exception of messing up one of the salads, where he placed the wrong order for one. Whoever the guy was clearing the plates and silver had no business doing so. When replacing our sliver after the first course, he was basically dropping/throwing the fork/steak knife in front of each person. It was enough that we all halted our conversation to make sure we didn't lose a finger from an errant knife. Then right before the dinner arrived, the same guy started placing large plates in front of us. Then the waiter came by and had to remove them.

For a $1,500 dinner, I was satisfied and would return, but I would keep a cautious eye on the service.

Based on positive reviews, we were not disappointed by the quality of the steaks, but more surprisingly, given the US, the level of customer service and welcome, it was extremely disappointing. Our experiences in the US on customer service is high, but from the moment we entered the restaurant to the time we left, we were disappointed by the abrasive attitude of the staff and the feeling that we were there as surplus to their profit requirement.
If you have plenty of cash to be intimidated by the extensive and over-priced wine list then good luck. We chose a good wine on the lower price level but listening to other customers we were lucky.
On leaving the restaurant we overheard other Europeans commenting on poor service. As someone from the UK who has extensively travelled, I was let down by a chain owned by an Austrian where their home country delivers quality customer service
