My fiancé and I (both from London) were in NYC for 5 days and being a steak fan, i really wanted to visit a real steakhouse. Through the TripAdvisor City Guide, this restaurant flashed up as it was only a couple of blocks away from our hotel. We initially headed there on a Sunday evening, but not being used to how NYC runs, we discovered that it was closed along with most other restaurants in the area!

Determined, we headed back on the Tuesday. Seemed quite dressy so we were worried whether we would be able to get a table without a booking. Luckily, there was space available, so after dropping our jackets, we were led down to our table.

Wine list is extensive but some great choices available.

For starters, my fiancé went for the Calamari in sweet chilli, and i went for the smoked bacon slab. Food was served up nice and fast, but not too quickly. My bacon was amazing, and the same could be said for the calamari; not only was there so much of it, but it was perfectly cooked too which is rare for calamari!

For mains, i opted for the Bone-In Rib Eye and my other half went for the Petit Filet. There wasn't much that was petit about the filet and my rib eye was ridiculous! At this point i was worried that i was going to be all size but no substance. How wrong could we have been. My steak was cooked exactly how i ordered it, and just melted. I've had a lot of steaks, but was simply the best steak i've ever had! The only thing i would say is that the mains arrived a little too quickly. Could have done with a bit of a breather between courses.

Knowing what this sort of meal would cost back home, i thought the prices were really good.

Our waiter, Josh, was great too. Always there if you needed him but not imposing on you. And when he asked you what you thought of the meal it was as though he really meant it, rather than being told that's what he had to do, if that makes sense. Really great guy and knowledgeable of the menu which i love (previously worked in the catering industry).

Had a good chat with the front of house lady from San Fran who was also really helpful and friendly.

Desserts looked amazing, but we were just far too stuffed to even contemplate one, and i have a real sweet tooth, so this should tell you something!

Wouldn't hesitate in recommending this restaurant to any steak lover, and when i'm next in the city, i will definitely be back!

“Great choice for steaks while in NYC”

This restaurant was recommended by the conceirge at our hotel. One of many great suggestions. This is a smaller, more intimate restaurant that focuses on food and service. Although a steakhouse there is much for those who prefer something other than steak. My wife had the shrimp with pasta which was delicious. Huge shrimp. I had the veal and it was equally delicious. Needless to say the portions are large.They offer a number of salads, sides, and desserts as well. Not overly expensive, especially for NYC. They even had a special on wine by the bottle on Friday or Saturday night. The service was available and attentive but not pushy, giving ample time to enjoy the wine and atmosphere without being rushed. I would definitely return.

“Great Takeout lunch”

Invited the team to a 'fancy takeout lunch'
Although the food took a little longer, it was as tasty as usual... Burgers and steak sandwiches all around. Never disappoints... No the cheesecake, best way to finishi up a tasty meal.

WE chanced upon Bobby Van's 54th Street /Park Avenue upon the recommendation of our Waldorf Astoria Conscierge..excellent meat restaurant,good wines,very attentive service..a bit pricey but worth it...

we ate here twice----- in a four night stay ---The steaks were excellent and cooked to perfection.Some may find it pricey but you only get what you pay for--- my husband thought the porterhouse was probably one of the best steaks he had ever eaten. The staff were welcoming and gave very good,attentive service,even on a very busy night. Our second visit ,on a Saturday night, the restaurant lacked a little atmosphere, but the food was still fantastic
