Description: Bobby Van's Steakhouse New York, located at 54th Street, is notable for its prime selection of superior steaks, distinctly excellent chops and incomparable seafood selection, invites you to enjoy the warm hospitality and quality fare that the traditional American steakhouses of New York are known for. Situated in a building once frequented by Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack, this is the quintessential place for the "steakhouse, New York" experience. With its richly handcrafted wood walls and well-stocked bar, Bobby Van's Steakhouse offers both private and conventional seating. Diners can enjoy the outstanding and award winning wine list, which is personally selected by Bobby Van's own sommelier, and won the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2005. In terms of cuisine, Lunch patrons would be hard-pressed not to enjoy our famed Marinated Skirt Steak, served on a bed of arugula salad, or our equally popular Colossal Crabcake B.L.T. As for our Dinner menu, where guests can find culinary pleasure in a varied number of highly satisfying selections, the Classic Surf & Turf has never failed to please, nor has our favorite form of filet mignon, the Filer Oscar, which is served with a healthy amount of crabmeat and a topping of Hollandaise sauce. No matter what your style or preference, we pledge that your visit with us will prove nothing short of above-adequate. Bobby Van's Steakhouse New York is open seven days a week for dinner, and on weekdays for lunch. We are conveniently located a few blocks north of the Waldorf-Astoria, and within close walking distance of the Intercontinental Hotel, Marriott Eastside, Radisson and the Benjamin Hotel, as well as are near parking and public transit.

We also benefitted from a Groupon deal and were glad of it - Bobby Van's is on the pricey side. But the steaks are amazing - and enormous! Everything was cooked to perfection and really well flavoured. It was very busy when we were in (Groupon!) and I did feel we were a little bit neglected but it didn't spoil the evening. This and the not very friendly welcome are the reasons I haven't given it an 'Excellent'

“I return to my new old school steak place”
Reviewed April 29, 2013 via mobile

Haven't been in years but they have not let up a bit. Wine list is good, cold seafood app feeds the table, steaks are excellent, sides are huge & desserts are all house made. There is room for private events and you cannot beat the location (feet from Grand central terminal). They have other locations but nothing beats the original. See J.O.D. East behind the bar.

“Always the place for us...Ask for the Beef Wellington in advance!!!”
Reviewed April 25, 2013

As usual the food was awesome.

Luca made our evening (even though it was packed) by being attentive to our special night, my husbands 40th!

We did have few issues with being seated, etc. but on a busy Friday night in Manhattan you take a a bit of the bad with alot of the good. Tim, the manager recognized the issues and made sure we didn't leave disappointed.

We will always come back year after year!!!

“Whay a fabulous find!!!!!”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

I purchased a group on coupon for this steakhouse not knowing what to expect and did I luck out. We went to an early mantinee and walked over to the steakhouse about 5:30p. I'm glad we had made reservations because by 6pm the place was full. As soon as we entered the restaurant we were greeted and our coats were taken. We were given a fabulous seat in a quiet corner and the wonderful experience began. We ordered a seafood special for an appetizer which consisted of a lobster tail, two huge shrimp and a large portion of crab meat. It was so fresh and delicious. My husband I shared the porterhouse steak for two and our friends the salmon with horse radish crust, no one was disappointed. As it was my friends's birthday, the waiters gathered around and sang to her, a nice ending to a wonderful night.

“Great Steakhouse with good friendly service”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

Good tasting food, large portions (we shared, as very big steaks), great atmosphere, with really friendly staff.
The restaurant was recommended by our hotel and it did not fail to please us. The wine as in most places was a little over priced but we found this was the same in most places in NY.
Very Busy but tables were well spaced out, so didn't feel over crowded
Would definitely return.
