Description: Clement restaurant features a notable American Fare concept, created to highlight an approachable sensibility to midtown dining. Under the direction of Chef Remi van Peteghem, Clement, and its adjoining bar, features fresh new dishes, daily chef's plates and seasonal events. Located in the Forbes Five Star-rated Peninsula New York hotel, Clement overlooks bustling Fifth Avenue. Designed by the international award-winning design firm, Yabu Pushelberg, the restaurant feels like a quintessential New York home, with different rooms that cater to a range of moods, desires and occasions. Private and semi-private dining areas are available. Adjacent to Clement, The Bar offers a bewitching menu of suggested and made-to-order cocktails, a selection of wines and champagnes available by the glass, and small plates echoing the Clement menu.

Even the very best hotel restaurants are different than the very best restaurants, they must serve three meals daily and cater to their hotel guests. Fives does the job; breakfast is superb, elegant, tasty and well-served in comfortable surroundings. Lunch is also excellent. The host/hostess at the top of the stairs is professional and attentive, as is the serving staff.

Dinner is a little dull, but fine for a quiet dinner, especially if it is cold or rainy outside and you cannot get the reservation you want. Most NY visitors at the Peninsula go out for dinner, because they usually have breakfast at Fives, perhaps lunch, and they want to see the latest and best of NY restaurants.

Best Breakfast Ever .... I had a different breakfast every morning from Eggs Hollandaise with smoked salmon to Eggs with lobster & crab hash which I had never tried before to Bacon & Eggs, delicious.

There is nothing positive to say about this restaurant. The service is worse than terrible. The portions are miniscule. The selections are overpriced.

Fives performed to the nines during restaurant week in New York. A business lunch for two was perfect. Ravioli and fish for her, lentil soup and fish for me, plus gorgeous little chocolate cakes. Pleasant service, full napery on the tables, lovely dining room. $9 for a cup of coffee, but they must have lost $$$ on the 3-course lunch at $24. If budget matters, get there before August 20 and if price is no object, go any time. (PS, to those who find servers inattentive, ask to speak to a manager. Don't just sit there suffering in silence.)

I had the perfect breakfast, quick service, excellent coffee and delicious brioche! I liked the warm welcome from the staff who was quick to identify my needs.
