Not your usual bustling NYC restaurant (we enjoyed how peaceful and not over-crowded it was) The service was attentive and steak frites and salmon were amazing. The drinks (while steep) were well prepared and tasty (Try the Libertini!) Very comfortable and ambient for dining at night. Would def. go back

This restaurant could be so good and so successful if the owners cared just a little to take the time to hire competent staff. We dined there last night and found the menu simple, approachable, a little creative, and quite well prepared. You would not go to the restaurant for a great culinary experience, instead you go for slightly creative versions of well known comfort foods... but you won't go back (and this restaurant will probably be out of business anyway). Simply put - the service is so bad you might say there is no service. The single waitress for the entire restaurant has clearly never worked as a waitress before. She wanders from table to table awkwardly never really sure of what she is doing - or what she should be doing next. The host/manager did the best she could to fill in for the huge holes in the service, but she couldn't do it be herself... even an excellent busboy wasn't enough. It never ceases to amaze me that there are people who have enough money to invest in planning, building, furnishing & decorating a nice restaurant space - but then let it fail financially for the something as simple as hiring staff that are competent. But the food is good here, so if you want to dine here, here are a few tips so that your meal isn't terrible:

1 - when you drinks arrive, have you dinner order ready to go in case the waitress doesn't return for 1/2 hour or more.
2 - order a large appetizer or two per person. the wait between when you finish your appetizer and your entree will be at least 1/2 hour and likely closer to 45 minutes - so you need appetizers so you don't go hungry
3 - if you want another drink, ask the busboy to get it for you. it is not likely that your waitress will ever come back to the table to see if you need anything, but if she does and you order another drink from her it will never arrive. It seems that drinks ordered from the busboy do arrive for some reason
4 - when your dinner arrives (which is really surprisingly well prepared) look around your table and make sure you have everything you need: knives, spoons, salt, pepper, bread, napkin, etc... you will not see your server ever again. Some time about 1/2 hour after you have been waiting for your plates to be cleared you may see the manager or busboy - but you will never see your waitress during your meal.
5 - if you decide to order dessert (again, suprisingly good) - make sure you have at least another hour because it will be more than a 1/2 hour before it arrives
6 - to pay, stand up and start to walk out of the restaurant - it is the only way to get the staff to notice you have been waiting for the bill.
