“A fabulous meal!”
Reviewed October 17, 2009

on a recent "eating trip" to NYC our first 3 meals at 3 hot spots left us unimpressed and underwhelmed. A relative who lives near this little spot took on E 58th took us here and we were stunned - it was fantastic!
From the minute we walked in the door, the staff was welcoming and most gracious. We we seated at a cozy windowside table and offered a well chosen wine list. When we expressed interest in one of the appetizers on prix fix menu, the waiter gladly offered it to us a la carte -- no forcing the set menu on us which we really appreciated.
Our dinner began with a deliciious frito misto - lovely fresh seafood in a crispy feather light batter.
My Ossobucco with risotto was devine - flavourful and fork tender and enourmous! My husbands Hangar steak with polenta was also perfect and accompanied by a wonderful & again very generous portion of wild mushrooms . The third entree at our table was the wild salmon - just rare in the middle as requested and accompanied by perfectly cooked vegetables. Two fabulous desserts completed our meal - one being the tiramisu which was more than memorable! All in all a delicious dinner at a very fair price -- would highly reccommend to anyone who would prefer having a good meal than being seen at the latest "in" spot!

“Don't waste your time, money or hunger on this place.”
Reviewed August 4, 2009

This was our first trip to NYC and chose Nino's 208 for the proximity to our events for the day. By FAR, this was the biggest disappointment of our trip. We arrived at 11:30am for our Sunday brunch - probably a little early by NYC standards, but if you are open, be prepared for guests. We stepped over the dirty mop water and man cleaning the floor to get to our table, after getting some annoyed looks from the staff for our arrival time (we had reservations, although they were definitely not necessary).

Cards on the table indicate "Free mimosa or champage with brunch", in addition to the menu reading "Choice of mimosa or champagne, and tea or coffee". After ordering our mimosas and coffee, we were repeatedly told we were not going to get both, only one. My husband noted the poor writing on the menu but still we were not given both. Food was bland and boring, not exceptional by any means, and we were not even given a refill on our coffee, despite sitting there for over 1 hour.

This restaurant may be in some trouble as their menu had the original prices covered with new stickers indicating lower prices. If this is the case, they should definitely be stepping up their game, and that was not the case with our experience. My husband and I have dined at several excellent restaurants in several cities - and this was probably our worst experience ever. Boston Pizza does a better job. For all the competition in NYC, I doubt this restaurant will last long. Perhaps the name will get them through?
