“Love this sushi restaurant!”
Reviewed April 30, 2014

I've now been there 3 times and it keeps getting better....So be prepared to pay a lot but know that food this good needs to be eaten slowly and savored. You must make a reservation to get in, the service is good but not terribly friendly (efficient, is the word), and the prices high....Doesn't sound so great, right? Wait until that first piece of sushi melts on your tongue. So the Omakase (chef's choice) is the best choice although you will pay by the piece and it adds up fast if you're hungry. (Tip: Drink lots of water first and save room for dessert). The Omakase with 2 glasses of wine and dessert was $180- it was my birthday, what can I say? But their "Tuna of Gari" is also amazing- 8 pieces of wonderful tuna sushi, each with a special sauce and a tuna roll for $55. Special night- splurge especially post-theater. It's NYC's restaurant row so expect the cost AND the great quality. Bon appetit!

“great place, especially before the theater”
Reviewed April 20, 2014

We ate here before the theater one night, and the food was memorable as always. We started with miso soup, a salad and a fried chicken app, and then went on to their special tuna sushi and the sushi deluxe. For dessert we had mochi ice cream, which was quite good, and a cake of some kind. The only problem was the entitled idiots next to us who had to go to the theater and were quite loud in their demands.

“Excellent sushi, but bland dining experience”
Reviewed April 11, 2014 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Visited with two other people and was pleased to be able to get a reservation over the phone. The restaurant is a walk from Times Square. The service was okay, but not spectacular and the restaurant itself was small, had uncomfortable seating and was pretty bland. However, the food was amazing and that's what we were there for!

Between us we sampled three appetizers. The beef tataki was excellent, the tempura pumpkin (Kabocha) perfectly cooked and the crab dumplings just melted in your mouth. I felt that the simplicity of the menu made it difficult to distinguish the difference between the Regular, Deluxe and Special, but we sort of had it explained by the server. The sushi was incredible, the Tuna of Gari entree was OUTSTANDING with many different presentations and cuts of a fish that made it different from any other NYC sushi bar.

It was a little pricey for what you got, but a great dinner.

“Wow. Awesome sushi”
Reviewed April 1, 2014

I sat at the sushi bar and had the omakase. It was incredibly good. The chefs were inventive and creative, and the sushi was unique. This is a great place for people who like to try new and different things. If sushi is a California roll, tuna and salmon, this place is likely going to come across as overpriced, with a décor that leaves something to be desired. If you want a sushi chef to wow you, this is the place.
