Owner description: The park includes, on one end, Hope Garden - a memorial to AIDS victims - and on another, the ferry that'll take you to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, not to mention a number of other memorials and monuments scattered in between.

We visited the park to rest and relax in the middle of our day. There were plenty of trees to command the much needed shade during the warm weather. There were a few places to buy drinks while we sat on the water. It is in the same area as the ferry which made for some crowded areas but there was room to walk in the other direction so it wasn't a problem. We had a great side view of the Statue of Liberty which was nice since we were limited on time this trip. The subway was at the end of one side of the park where you can take the R train back up the island. Very convenient.

We visited Battery Park as we went there to buy our tickets for the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Museum. We haden't enough time to walk around as much as we wanted, as is a big one, but we saw this part that the Eagle Statue is and we liked it a lot. From there we went to Broklyn bridge on food, enjoying looking the skylons.

Definitely worth a visit! One of the things that's a must-do for a New York City vacation!

It has great views of the Statue of Liberty, especially if you were unable (or unwilling) to get tickets to go to the statue itself. Several locals will go for jogs along the paths, or take their pets for a walk. It offers a change of pace if the city is getting a little much for you. Filled with greenery and overhangs, the path is beautiful. There are also great views of the Jersey shoreline the entire way. I would recommend Robert F. Wagner Jr. Park, which is a smaller park within the Battery Park area.
What we did, which I highly recommend, was to start at the World Trade Center and walk down to the shore until you get to the World Financial Center, which is a gorgeous building. There are several buildings around there, along with some unexpected shopping and food options. From there is an obvious path to walk along the shore which leads straight to Wagner Park and the views of the Statue of Liberty. It is a bit of a walk, if you are not able to walk for long, but if you can, definitely check it out.
Great views of New York behind you and Jersey across the way, with the Statue of Liberty as well, along with beautiful gardens and paths, plus some great people watching.

One is amazed at this park. It has come so far from how it once was. One to see it to remember, as one should see it for it's beauty and what it has to offer. It is very close to a don't miss it.

There were nice memorials for Korean War Veterans & World War 2 veterans. The view of the Statue of Liberty from the park was memorable. They were repairing the damage from hurricane Sandy so there were fences & equipment around the area.
