Owner description: A 9.75-acre city park in Greenwich Village, characterized by its large, central fountain, and known as a major center of community activity for the neighborhood residents.

The park was recently redone and feels more spacious and user friendly. The center is a fountain, surrounded by benches, trees, greens and walkways. It is not a large park, but it is thriving. It includes kids playground, dog runs, a boulle ground, chess tables and street performers in the evening. Very youthful energy since it is surrounded by NYU. A good entry point into the village (south west) and the view looking up 5th avenue is pretty unique.

This is such a nice park! The tv show "Blue Bloods" films a lot of their scenes here. There are numerous places to sit, a street vendor, and the arch is beautiful! We went in December , but in the summer there is a huge water fountain operating and I'm sure it is beautiful. Would definitely recommend this place!

go for the street performers, stay for the energy and beauty - central in the village, NYU students abound.... fun walk through or meet up spot

I have wanted to come and play chess here since I was a kid. After avoiding a couple of dealers loitering around, I played the infamous NotSean. Funny as it sounds, after wanting to play speed chess here for 15+ years it was one of the great experiences of my life! Visiting here and having a game or three is a must for anyone with an interest in chess.

This park is lovely. Situated right next to NYU there are always musicians practicing, performers, chess players and hundreds of students taking photographs or lounging reading for their next psyc class.
Great in the summer or winter. Take it from a local.
