The outdoor Reading Room has picture books and summertime story times. In winter. Take a spin on the free ice-skating rink. The park also has clean bathrooms, a rarity in midtown.

“Community building at its finest”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

This little gem in the middle of the city required a second visit. I loved seeing the chess and table tennis games going on, the reading area being used, and the environment with the seemingly endless display of greenery and flowers pulled the whole experience together. A great place to rest your feet, grab a snack, and enjoy respite from the busyness of the streets.

“Classic NYC experience”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

Try a visit in the daytime and a separate evening visit. The park is well - lit at night by spotlights from a neighboring tall building. If you are lucky you can watch the Empire State building change colors. They also so movies in the park in the summer. There are numerous kiosks that sell coffee, light meals and ice cream. There is an impromptu chess playing area. The park is framed by buildings creating a unique location for picture taking, serene green space with urban surroundings.

“From Hell hole to Oasis”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

Bryant Park used to full of drug dealers and very disreputable people. Sometime back in the nineties the people living in the area and the city government decided to take back the park Today it is wonderful oasis in the center of the city. And be sure to take a look inside the library, especially the great reading room. Similar to Central Park, this shows what can be done when the citizens and the government join forces to retake a beautiful space in the city.

“Excellent small park”
Reviewed July 2, 2013

This is great to relax in, generally quiet. Sometimes they have events happening but none were on during my visit. Good location to relax, tables and chairs available if you don't want to sit on the grass.

“Urban park in Manhattan”
Reviewed July 2, 2013

A small urban park in Manhattan, located between Fifth and Sixth Avenues and between 40th and 42nd Streets in Midtown. Technically the main building of the New York Public Library is located within the park. It always attracts the crowd and is always buzzing with local people and sightseers.
