Bring your own Ice Skates and skate for free. Visit the historic NY Public Library just next door. The Christmas kiosk were colorful with many creative artistic items for sale.

a great place to bring a box lunch and lounge in a garden and contemplate the surrounding city. Tables and chairs and loads of people on a nice day. Occasional entertainment.

So I'm not a fan of Donald Trump, and that means that Bryant Park is a place I love to skate in winter and hang out in summer. THe open air bar is quite busy and attracts a range of young professionals, tourists, HBO employees. The skate...no complaints.

I have already reviewed the skating on the Citi Pond attraction. While at the park, we also enjoyed the shops and food. The Witchcraft hot chocolate was wonderful! I had the semi-sweet, which tasted like a chocolate chip cookie to me. However, my 12-year-old daughter did not care for it. She probably would have liked the milk chocolate better. There are plenty of food choices, from soups to waffles to corn meal cakes. My husband and a teen in our party especially enjoyed TopArepa. They said the spinach and feta was the best, but also loved the artichoke.

The ice rink and giant blue Christmas tree are a perfect photo op.

Bathrooms are available, but the women's line is typically long.

We arrived on a Saturday around 6 PM and the line was very long. However, the Zamboni was on the ice, and as soon as it finished, the line moved fast. They are very strict about not letting you hold spots for other people, so make sure your entire party is arrives together.

If you bring your own skates, it's free. If you rent them, it's $14. You will also need to pay for a locker once inside, so that you can store your shoes. They were out of lockers for our crew, so they had to pay to "check a bag," which was $7 and a bag was given to them to put all of their shoes in.

The ice is quite full, but our teens had a great time skating. There are plenty of Skate Guards on the ice and they keep people moving and enforce the no cell phone rule.

There is a large observation deck opposite the giant blue Christmas tree. There are tables and chairs that can be moved around.

There are also a lot of little shops and food places in Bryant Park, and Times Square is just a couple blocks away.

Public bathrooms are located in the park close to the library, but the women's line is always long (no matter what time of year).
