Walked through Bryant Park yesterday on the way to Lord & Taylor and enjoyed seeing the ice rink that is created every fall and disappears in the spring. It gets bigger and better every year as do the booths that take up most of the park space at a time when no one is going to be lounging on the grass

Central Park is THE park in NYC, and a must see, but if you want a lot smaller, a lot quainter and a classic NY moment, head to Bryant Park. Before you go, check out the events online at bryantpark.org. During the winter there are holiday shops and ice skating, and in the summer there is yoga, concerts and book readings. 'witchcraft next to the fountain has wonderful (and reasonable) salads, sandwiches and soup. The NY public library is right next door, so you can see the lions (Patience and Fortitude) and go up to the Rose Room.

You can't been the location for one of the loveliest skating rinks in NYC. Try it on a warm fall day. I just love to watch the skaters.

We spent a week in NYC for my daughter's 18th birthday over Christmas and enjoyed the whole city. Whilst walking around we stumbled upon this lovely park and found plenty of space on the ice for skating. It seemed to be a very family friendly spot.
