Owner description: A lovely and largely uncrowded park that's perfect for the midday stroll. Be sure to check out the statue of famed theater actor Edwin Booth in the guise of Hamlet.

“Don't get locked in!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2007

We walked by Gramercy Park one late afternoon and the gate was open so we went in. I know it is private but I thought maybe they had it open for the day. Wrong! It is so beautiful! We sat down and spent some time in there BUT by the time we left the gate was closed. The gates are keyed to get in and to get out. We very lucky because a resident with a key was in there reading and let us out. I don't know what we would have done otherwise. It is one of the prettiest places in NYC though.

“Lovely but private.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2003

Gramercy Park is indeed lovely and quiet - mainly because it is a PRIVATE park with access given only to the 250 people who have keys. You can walk around it and peer in through the fence. There are also some lovely buildings facing the park including the fab New York Arts Club. Ask at reception nicely and they might let you in to see the amazing tiffany glass dome above the bar.
