“Profile of NY life”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

Union Square is the most important gathering space in NY, where you can see characters from all walks of life, from suited businessmen to dreadlocked hippies. Visit some of its shops, such as a large Wholefoods Market. Look at the Metronome on the south side and try to figure out, how it works. See the place, where Andy Warhol was shot, listen to an agitated speech and admire the Square's many public artworks.

“Beautiful park,Farmers market M-W-F and Sat, and surrounding shops”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

Beautiful park right off Subway. Hydrangeas were in bloom when I went. Take in the gardens, statues, people watch, your kids can play at the playground, and have your lunch on a park bench. If you are a dog lover, like me, enjoy watching the dogs in the parks' dog run. Farmers' Market on Mondays, Wednesdays,Fridays, and Saturdays, selling Fresh Produce, pies, lavender soaps and lotions, and flowers.W Hotel and shops surround the park. If it is raining try Barnes and Noble. Have your makeup done by one of the makeup artists at Sephora. Buy a minimum of 2 items that you liked since the artists work on commission. I recommend a gloss or a mascara and a bronzer. Babies R Us and a Petco are also there. Something to do for everyone.

“USP”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

It's a big square and park, to be honest i didn't spend a lot of time there.
There's a market where anyone can buy fresh vegetables, fruits or seafood. There's a subway station under the ground so there are a lot of people who travel across above and under the ground

“Live the big fountain”
Reviewed June 29, 2013 via mobile

My kids had a lot of fun getting in the fountain on a hot summer day. The arch is beautiful as well as the gardens.

“Union Square Park...Launch Pad for a Gramercy/Flatiron District Tour”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Park Quick Tips:
1. Subway brings you right to the park!
2. Plan your visit on a Mon, Wed, Fri, and Sat to enjoy NYCs largest Greenmarket (0800-1800). Vendors range from fruits and veggies, meats, cheese, bakery items and flowers
3. Lots of shade trees, benches, and tables to sit and stay awhile
4. A solar powered cell phone charging station!
5. Park had a lot of squirrels frolicking, some tame enough they would take bread from your hand
6. During the Christmas holiday there is also a holiday market
7. Dog run area/park

We started our day here at the Greenmarket grabbing a few croissants and empanadas (coffee from the Starbucks across the street), sat in a shaded cove and let the squirrels entertain us…we then spent the rest of the day making a giant loop around the surrounding Gramercy Square/Flatiron district based on a walking tour we found in the DK NYC guidebook and adding a few other great ideas from other TA members:
a) Gramercy Park (peek through the fence) and it’s nearby ‘Block Beautiful’
b) Madison Square Park (Shake Shack and amazing views of the Flatiron); Summer evenings offers free Wednesday night concerts; month of May for Mad. Sq. Eats
c) Ladies Mile
d) Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace (FREE; hidden gem! See my separate review)—and bathrooms too…
e) ABC Carpet and Home—for every decorating idea and home furnishing you can imagine
f) ‘Beechers’ for world’s best mac-n-cheese and to watch cheese makers in action
g) ‘City Bakery’ for one of NYC’s ranked cookies and hot chocolate spots

Plot you adventure on an internet map…and you’re off…have a great day!
