Owner description: Union Square has a year-round greenmarket, where you can sample goods from local farmers. It also has several playgrounds, a lively holiday market, and benches where you can watch a slice of New York go by.

A great location to catch up with friends. I would step into Barnes and Noble to catch up on that good book, Starbucks for the regular morning coffee or late night latte, Pacific Grill for fresh seafood or Republic for a catch up with friends and some great Asian fusion cuisine.

In season, there's nothing like the Union Square Greenmarket. Farmers offer a dizzying variety of fruit, vegetables, meats, cheeses, baked goods — even wine. The historic square has been beautifully redesigned.

I've always found Union Square a tad underwhelming. Too much concrete, not enough greenery, but then it is a square and not a park, so fair enough! They had some nice Christmas markets this year, which I'd recommend if you want to get in the spirit of the season.

the square is very nice, in one of of the best hotels in town right there and couple of restaurant, specially one of a very famous chef, although the food comes in very limited quantities you can still go the the brewery in the other side of the square, all in there.
