“We were amazed as to how beautiful this place was!”

For a person who doestn't like opera I wa very pleases along with my wife! The English translation is displayed on the seat back in front but is not distracting to others. The sound is without a doubt as clear as it can b e and the voices really come through!

“There is nothing quite like it in the world”
Reviewed March 18, 2014

We experienced Renee Fleming in Rusalka and the whole staging from the performers through to the scenery was of the highest quality.
I don't really have much more to say than to suggest that no visit to NYC is complete without going to the Met.

“The Enchanted Island”
Reviewed March 16, 2014

I watched "The Enchanted Island" as the pictures and reviews in the New York Times and other publications reminded me of Shahnameh of Firdowsi. Obviously, Opera is a little stiff setting. I had excellent orchestra seats through GoldStar. The ambience, sets and overall production was beautiful but the performance is painfully long. It's approximately over 3 plus hours with 30 mins intermission. That's a killer. Wished it was no more than 2-2.5 hours and the viewer could absorb and retain the beauty of the show.

In future, I will stick with ballet and other shows, 3 plus hours Opera is not my cup of tea.

“Great opera house but a bit stuffy”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

We took young members of the family and friends to Die Fledermaus after a snow storm. We wanted a box to ourselves but had to split between two boxes which as many hadn't turned up proved unnecessary. We were prevented from drinking two glasses bought in the foyer in the boxes, which is a bit prissy given the nature of the opera. Anyway we had already completed two bottles of champagne smuggled in. So up yours stuffy met.

“Iconic new york experience”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

We love going to the Met. It's an iconic new York experience. The opera house is a historic building so just visiting is great. With supertitles, you can fully follow the plot. Try to eat at the Grand Tier restaurant which makes it an even more special experience (typically you have everything but dessert before the opera and then have dessert during intermission). Enjoy!
