Of course, when you go to place like NY Metropolitan Opera you are allready having an attitude of liking it, but this time I can say that it really was a great performance in a great place!

“Exceptional”

First opera, it was great. Beautiful theatre. Don't know that I could do many operas but this one was exceptional.

“Great evening”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

The whole performance was superb. Norma must be one of the silliest stories in opera, but it didn't matter because the singing was wonderful, particularly the mezzo soprano!

“Tosca...what?”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

Tosca in the Luc Bondy production is a disappointment. The staging simply does not make sense. The cast seems uncomfortable--or should be--although everyone was competent. With those sets and silly, unmotivated direction they deserve kudos for doing so well.
Orchestra was overpowering when it did not lag; and through "vissi d'arte" was too fast.
The Met is the Met: good. But some of the re-imagined productions simply do not work, like this one. Others that are modernized do very well, like RIgoletto. Not so, poor Tosca.

“Great”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

I haven't been to a lot of opera houses, but i can say that this one is excellent. Attended a The Barber of Seville presentation, and loved it. Great acoustics. There is a non official dress code.
