“Over-the-top ! Bring your kids once”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2012

Had the change to see the Met last week. I am not a huge opera fan, but WOW. This is a BIG TIME , over-the-top, powerful production. There is no question that everyone should experience this in person at least once. It is great for kids 10+, who are well behaved. They usually have two long intermissions, to get wiggles out. Food is expensive, so eat beforehand.

“Spectacular!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2012

I saw the same production of il Trovatore at the COC in Toronto.
The Met makes the COC seem like a High School production. Anna NETREBKO was outstanding in L'elisir d'amore

“Divine evening of opera”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2012

My favourite moment is when the chandeliers rise up to signal the start of the opera. Tremendous moment of anticipation.

“don't be LATE!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2012

My hubby and I were literally less than 5 minutes late to a show and we were locked out. I couldn't believe it. We had to watch the entire first half in an auditorium on a movie screen. I was super duper disappointed since we'd busted our butts running from subway station to subway station trying to find our way around the city only to be denied entry. I thought that there'd at least be a 10 minute grace period before they locked the doors but that was not the case.

“What's not to like?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2012

If you hate opera you won't be going. If you love opera there is no need for a review. Enjoy! (Reviews must be 50 characters minimum, so this sentence is being written to fulfill that requirement.)
