“Beautiful and inspirational”
Reviewed February 9, 2014

Visited not only to view the beautiful cathedral, but also to attend a Sunday morning service. Went on the Sunday between Christmas and New Year, so was a very intimate setting. Got to sit in the wooden choir-loft chairs right at the front. The Rector gave a very easy to follow yet profound sermon. After the communion service, got to enjoy the various chapels on either side of the main sanctuary, and enjoyed a beautiful photographic art display. Simply beautiful and very meaningful. If we ever return to New York on a weekend, will definitely consider going again. Oh...if you go to attend a service, there's no fee! Otherwise, there was a $10/person suggested fee. Without attending a service, you could "do" the cathedral in less than 1 hour. Add 1 hour for attending the service.

“An unexpected delight”
Reviewed February 8, 2014

Visited this magnificent cathedral on a Saturday afternoon, and as well as the most fantastic architecture, a ceremony commemorating the first African American priest in the Episcopal church was in progress. This was followed by a series or performances from Japanese drummers, dancers from Guatemala, and singers. The chapels within the cathedral are delights in themselves, and there are many little surprises tucked away. A most enjoyable few hours, and a welcome respite from the freezing weather outside. Restrooms within the cathedral are heated!

“Beautiful old cathedral, second largest to St. Peters in Rome.”

Beautiful old cathedral way down on lower west side. We are so glad we took the time on this exceptionally cold January day to
Tour this and would encourage all to visit . Well worth the investment of time.

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

This was a taxi journey from Manhattan, and slightly off our beaten track. It was well worth the journey. The stain glass windows are spectacular.
