Lincoln Center offers you a great way to see the inside of the New York City Ballet, the Metropolitan Opera, the New York Phillharmonic, Vivian Beaumont Theatre and learn something more about them without having to go to one of their performances. The tour itself is very interesting, but the guide I had made the tour one of the best experiences. He was very nice and funny, making us to want to hear more and more.

The Minghella production of Madame Butterfly that has been at the Met for the past couple years in astoundingly beautiful. The set is minimalist but stunning with its use of rich fabrics, sliding shoji screens and a mirror background that reflects all that is happening on stage. The soprano was good but not the best Butterfly I've heard.

Not sure what to see or do for half a day. Just show up at Lincoln Center. Walk around, check out what is on the docket at the center's many theaters and then google discount tickets. No matter what you like or end up seeing, you can be sure that it will be world class!

If you're in New York on either a first or a repeat visit and have done the standards like the Hop On Hop Off bus, 9/11 area, cruise, Central Park, and others, and have about 1.5 hours to spare I'd recommend that you consider this tour. Of course my wife and I had heard of Lincoln Center, but never having been there we went away after the tour highly impressed. Our guide, Yoko, was outstanding, friendly and full of knowledge . She talked about the complex and its history. We then visited 3 of the buildings; the David H. Koch Theater, where we were able to watch some of a ballet that was going on at the time, Symphony Hall, and the Opera House. We spent 20 - 25 minutes in each building as Yoko toured us through each. We learned and saw so much, but I'll let her, or your guide. tell you about it all when you go.
