We wanted a nice place to dine on Restaurant Row in Hell's Kitchen, seeking good food in a charming place, regardless of price. We had a great dinner the night before on Restaurant Row, so we went back to try another restaurant. We walked up and down the street and decided on Bistecca Fiorentina based on the tasty menu choices and the cozy appearance of the restaurant. We struck gold by stumbling into Bistecca Fiorentina! The house specialty is a massive 32-ounce Porterhouse brushed with olive oil and fresh rosemary, and cooked over wood. It's hard to believe they price this giant steak at a ridiculously low price of only $42, which included creamed spinach. Wow, you will get your money's worth, and then some, with this dish. I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. The steak is served table side and carved into slices. The steak was perfectly cooked and was sheer delight. My fiancée had the salmon with pasta which was also superb. The servers were genuinely friendly and shared personal stories about their lives, which we enjoyed. At the end, we were served complimentary limoncello and some other type of italian liqueur. If I had to rate the food, service, prices, and ambience, I would give this place a perfect 10.

Close to theater district, open pre and post show. Food is solid if on the expensive side. Side dishes are expensive. Service is very friendly.

“Great Service, Food and Atmosphere in the Theater District”
Reviewed July 1, 2014

We (two couples) were looking for a nice place to have dinner before attending the Saturday, June 8 evening performance of Kinky Boots (which, by the way, is fantastic). We were looking for a place that had Italian offerings as well as steak specialities. After a little research, I discovered Bistecca Fiorentina. I made reservations about a week ahead of time.

We showed up right on time for our table. The maitre'd was expecting us and had us brought directly to our table. We were seated promptly and immediately were surrounded by service. We ordered off of their wine menu; not a huge list but good variety of types and prices. We ordered appetizers before dinner. We ordered the caesar salad and Ribolita (minestrone). Our friends ordered a caesar and the shrimp cocktail. The minestrone had lots of flavor, the salads well dressed and the shrimp large and plump.

For dinners our wives chose the Porterhouse for two. It was a very generous serving for the price, done medium rare and rare to perfection. My wife also got a side of pasta bolognese - the sauce was delicious and meaty. Our other two orders were the lasagna alla bolognese, a large serving (and very filling) and the chicken scarpariello with sausage - the sauce very flavorful and the sausage and chicken serving just right.

We finished off with coffee and we were done in plenty of time to make it to the theater. Another side benefit of where we were sitting (in restaurant center) was being able to watch the staff work the hand-operated prosciutto slicer. Can prosciutto get any fresher? Some additional entertainment included for free in our great restaurant experience here.

“So disappointing!”
Reviewed June 15, 2014

We had heard great things about the restaurant from friends but found that the food and service were below expectations. In particular, a pricey salmon and asparagus pasta dish had literally three very tiny pieces of salmon in it. When this was politely mentioned to the waiter, he literally glared at us, which we felt was very inappropriate and unacceptable. There was no offer or attempt to improve our dining experience on the part of the staff.
We wish we could say better things, as I know that others have enjoyed this restaurant, but our particular experience was sub-par (and we are generally very enthusiastic diners who love to give praise!)

“Perfect spot for dinner”
Reviewed June 10, 2014 via mobile

Our concierge directed us to this location for dinner. She said there were many good non-touristy places on 46th between 8th &9th. We just happened into this place and loved it. Seafood risotto was amazing and service great! Highly recommend
