From the lowest tip of Manhatten you can go on harbor tours. I chose a real sail boat that went out to the Statue of Liberty and back. With the city light in the background it was a magical evening.

Took the Yacht Cruise of harbor and view of Statue of Liberty. well organized and narrated. Circles around so all had plenty of time to view the statue.

The best way to see the Manhattanskyline and get the City into perspective is from the water, we took the optional add on City Harbour cruise with our hop on hop off open top bus tour, it was a great highlight lasting 90 minutes with excellent commentary. You do get to see all of the great sights and can decide which to view in detail later in your stay.

Nothing beats a long walk overlooking the river and the harbor on a sunny spring day. Lots of people-watching, fresh air, relaxing, and free!

The first thing you notice is lots of people. Then there's lots of Statue of Liberty Models who will let you pose with them for a pic, if you pay them $2. There's some live dance performances going on. Food, ice cream and stuff. Off course some old Harbor plaques and statues describing its history, erected in the memory of men who who no longer live. But the highlight is the cruise on a big boat which takes you "for a ride" around the Statue of Liberty, the Manhattan Bridge and all along the New York Skyline. Live commentary makes it even better. There's even a Helicopter service for those who can afford. The views are scenic and the boat ride a memorable experience. Too bad they don't let you go to the place where the Statue of Liberty actually is. On the way they show you old jails and immigration areas, history in words and live. Just loved it.
