Hilton's Grand Vacation Hotel in NYC on 57th at Madison Avenue was a wonderful island of tranquility during three hectic days of friends and festivities. A place of absolute serenity far from the madd'ning crowd!!!! Just a few steps from The Russian Tea Room where I had a lovely breakfast and fabulous dinner and had lunch at ANGELO'S PIZZA is directly across the street -- a real gem.

There is no restaurant, no lobby to speak of, no bar, no place even for coffee except what you can make in your room. The sound proofing was non-existing to the point where we could hear our neighbors brushing their teeth and their laughing and talking until 1 AM. Beds were very comfortable and the location was good. Wish I had stayed at the hotel right next door for about the same price!!

Like everything Hilton does this place is run well. Clean and always in good repair.
Building is well appointed and location is the best.
Staff is not only helpful but they seem to enjoy working there.
All around a great experience if you want or have to see New York.
Lobby could be larger but this is not a typical Hotel but rather a first class apartment building experience.
They have everything you need (gym etc.) ) to make your stay great.
If you want to come to New York each year this is the way.
It is not cheap, but what else in New York is. You do get your money's worth.

I finally got so fed up staying at the Hilton New York midtown (a giant conference hotel whose main focus seems to be to find new ways each time to provide fewer services and amenities to increase profit margins and make service as unfriendly as possible) and tried this tiny boutique Hilton just a few blocks away. It was a totally different and much better experience.

I stay in a lot of Hilton properties but rarely in any small ones that feel like boutique hotels. This one only has 6-8 rooms per floor and is thus much quieter than other properties. It is also much newer and much more nicely appointed. The rooms have high quality robes, refrigerators in addition to the mini bars, plenty of outlets including by the beds, a clock that actually dims enough it doesn't light up the room at night like most do in other properties, excellent bathrooms with an array of amenities other hotels have eliminated years ago (including sewing kits and so forth), plenty of high quality towels, and so forth.

The lounge that provides free breakfasts to all guests was much nicer than most--not depressing and ugly--and the food was higher quality than average with a good selection--not as good as European Hiltons but better than most US ones. However, breakfast isn't available until 7am which is way too late for me and I suspect for a lot of business travelers--that and the fact that the fitness center is not open 24 hours are the two reason I might not return--though the staff did let me into the fitness center early before it opened when I asked.

The lobby is small and clean and fresh; the staff were very nice, one never had to wait for an elevator as in many bigger Hilton properties, the halls were wide, nicely designed and clean and the location can't be beat.

Room Tip: lower floor rooms that face 57th street have very loud traffic noise.

This is an excellent location to stay in Manhatten. It only disappoints in not having any place to sit with friends and have drinks or something to eat. Otherwise, it was perfect. The room was perfect, lobby was lovely and 99% of the staff were outstanding.

I was approached by a Hilton telemarketing person last fall and was offered a good price on a 3 day 2 night stay in at the 57th St Hilton Grand Vacation Club . I hedged a bit and he offerd to sweeten it by offering a $200.00 credit towards a future Hilton booking and an additional 15,000 rewards points. Only catch was I had to attend a 2hr. Hilton Grand Vacation sales seminar. I had been to one of these timeshare sales pitches before by another company in Orlando and they were like a pit bull on my trousers to buy. I let the Hilton telemarket person know this and said in all honesty I'm not interested and told of my past experience. He said not to be concerned and there is no obligation whatsoever. It was a good price and I was upfront about not having a interest in timeshares and finally said "What the hell..why not?" When we arrived (2hrs. early) we were pleasantly greeted and allowed to check in. The room was on the 24th floor and very nice. Linens were fresh and bathroom clean. No complaints whatsoever. What we found most outstanding was the quietness. No noise whatsoever from the outside nor inside of the building. The lack of noise reinforced the privacy of the stay which we like. Then came time for the sales meeting which I really dreaded based on my last experience. However this was different. The salesmans name was Ali and was very friendly. I explained why a timeshare would not work for me and he understood where I was coming from. I didn't feel badgered or pressured at all. They were actually very nice and professional. I was given a $200.00 voucher for a future stay and 15,000 rewards points. I was also asked if I would attend another sales promotion in the future. I replied that I would, but the results would be the same. I have no interest in a time share. They understood and said they are not for everyone and there is no obligation. Good price, nice room, no hitches. Happy!

The hotel was new and modern with an Italian flavor in the design and, color, and furniture. The location was walking distance to Times Square, Central Park, and Broadway Shows. Location, cleanliness, and newness were excellent features and Hilton services is still always there. We enjoyed the refrigerator and stocked bar. No microwave that would have been nice.
