Everything about La Parisienne says "I've been here 50 proud years and I'll be here 50 more, God willing." The menu is broad and long, just like that of any highway diner, only this is Seventh Avenue. The place is an anachronism, but that's why it's charming. The service was cordial and attentive, but they know how to leave you alone, too, to linger a little while -- a real gift in New York City!
I had a well done mushroom burger and french fries. Burger was cooked perfectly. (So many times I have to send the well done burger back and ask for "no pink" or "please nuke it." They knew how to do it here. I would have preferred the mushrooms to have been cooked longer, but I could have asked.
La Parisienne is almost missable, next to a larger cafe on the corner near the N/Q/R stop at Seventh Ave. Keep walking towards Central Park just a few more steps. It's a great place to stop, breathe, feel at home and comfy for a few moments.
