I only stayed one night for a business trip. But I thought the Carvi was solid quality. It was my first stay but they upgraded my room without an additional charge. The room itself was fairly spacious, modern and well furnished. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. It's too bad there isn't a lounge area to get a drink or a snack. But as other reviewers mentioned, the hotel's location is quite central to lots of place to eat. I did use the diner across the street for breakfast. It was delivered promptly. But the quality of the food was so-so. If I had to offer a criticism of the hotel, it's that the walls and floors are not very sound poof. So, you can hear a lot of movement and noise. Whoever was in the room above me was, unfortunately, a night owl and I could hear their pounding footsteps quite clearly. But still, overall, a nice small hotel in a good location.

Room Tip: Ask for the a mezzanine level room ( there are only two). The rooms are bigger.

Dear lfc8568,

First off, thank you for the great review of the Carvi! Sorry to hear that the noise from your neighbors bothered you, hopefully we can work on that next time you are with us, don't hesitate to mention that to our front desk staff. The desk staff is also very knowledgable about the city so feel free to ask them about any lounges or bars nearby that would suit you best! See you next time!

Regards,
Victor

Small little boutique hotel in midtown. Rooms are clean, bed is comfy but the rooms are small. The bathroom is half the size of the bedroom, but very nice with marble and new fixtures. They offered free wi-fi, the a 10% discount to the diner across the street which I thought was nice. The staff was friendly and accommodating and knowledgeable. Would stay here again.

The price was right at this conveniently located midtown hotel. The staff was helpful and sweet, the rooms are small but beautifully equipped and extremely clean. Very comfortable bed with lovely linens, marble bathroom and shower and right in the heart of midtown, but quiet !

Dear VJHMV,

I'm sure Carvi wasn't as quiet as the Vineyard but good to hear that you enjoyed your time in NYC! Thank you for the lovely comments and see you next time!

My wife and I stayed at the Carvi from Oct 21 to 25. Reasonably priced room, great location, convenient to 5th Ave, Grand Central, Central Park. This is a wonderful small hotel (less than 50 rooms), very clean, modern style, the staff was very friendly and helpful! No restaurant or bar, but they offer discounts at the Midtown Restaurant across the street, which has a good hot breakfast. Buy beer or wine at any of the drug stores within walking distance and enjoy it on the lovely roof top deck. Be sure to try the unbelievably delicious Mediterranean food at Omar's next door! We will definitely stay at the Carvi again!!

Hotel has an excellent location near Central Park, subway, 5th avenue , museum of modern art etc. The staff are very helpful and hospitable. This hospitality was very evident during hurricane Sandy. The rooms are small but fully equipped and very confortable. For portuguese speakers, there is an additional advantage as a lot of the staff speak Portuguese. The hotel has no breakfast but there is a very good place for breakfast just in front. Will stay at this hotel next time I go to New York!

The carvi is well located, however note it has no facilities, not even for breakfast. Instead breakfast is across the road at the mid town diner, however it really is just across the road and there is lots more choice than a standard hotel breakfast. The room size was good for new York, and the receptionists very helpful. Overall a good stay, no complaints.

Stellar location! Two subway stations close by (either direction on Lexington) and many attractions within walking distance. The area is safe and very convenient.

Yes, the rooms are small or New York Style! But there is adequate room to fit in all the necessary needs. The beds are very comfortable, nice furnishings & coverings. The bathroom is tight, but clean and again, there is room for everything. The water pressure of the marble shower was so great (and it can be adjusted!). The towels were especially generous and fluffy good quality.

I found everything clean & very much in order. I especially appreciated the friendly desk staff and the free wifi. The staff helped in securing transportation to the airport on the day we left (FYI a private car is $60 to JFK, a taxi is $57). They happily checked our luggage when we arrived from our red eye flight in the morning and offered an early check in of 1 pm for us. This was a girl meet up with my good friend for 5 days, we didn't got to NYC to spend time in our room! If you have children or are planning on being in the room quite a bit, you may want to spend significantly more and be at one of the larger hotels. I was also impressed with the super quiet of our room. I'm used to being sleep challenged when in the city (especially San Francisco) due to the street noise and even noise from other guests staying in the hotel. It was so wonderfully quite in our room.

I loved the "under the radar" feel of this elegant little boutique style hotel. The entrance is elegant and stylish, but it is understated like a secret club. We shopped & compared for several weeks before choosing the Carvi and found it to be really good value for the location.
