“Welcome home!”

This is the third time I've stayed at the Chelsea Pines Inn and once again I wasn't disappointed. I stayed in many other hotels in New York, but nothing compares to this one.

The staff are extremely friendly and will get out of their way to help you. The rooms are the right size and always spotlessly clean and the location is perfect, with Chelsea and the Meat Packing District around the corner and Times Square about 30 blocks further up. Breakfast is simple, but good enough to start your day. There is free WiFi which is a plus. And you can help yourself to free coffee and cookies all day long.

But most of all, you might be lucky to get a nightly visitor in your room... Charlie the housecat.

So all in all, arriving at the Chelsea Pines Inn always feels like coming home. Highly recommended!!

This is an excellent little boutique hotel with super-friendly and helpful staff in a great downtown location. Abundant continental breakfast included. If you love old B-movies, then you will be impressed by the tribute paid to old-school Hollywood stars. Each room is devoted to a star of yore, like Doris Day, Rock Hudson, Anne Francis, Leslie Caron, Ann- Margaret and more with vintage movie posters and memorabilia. You can even check your email in the Judy Garland Business Center! Free wi-fi. Our room was one of the larger rooms, and it had some odd angles and a few tight squeezes, but overall we were very comfortable at the end of a long day sightseeing, taking in shows and shopping. One caveat: There is no elevator and we had to climb up 5 flights of stairs! Glad we were in good shape, but if you think that would be a hardship, be sure to request a room on a lower floor.

The Chelsea Pines was perfect in every way. Great location, great kitschy rooms, fabulous hospitality, and decent prices. We were treated so well by everyone from the owner himself to the grand gentleman who worked the front desk and helped us with everything from theatre tickets, to subway stop locations, to gift shop locations. He even gave us souvenier mugs on the way out the door when we checked out. The stay comes with breakfast and free wireless. No nickel and diming like the big chain hotels. We could no have been happier. Centrally located near cool spots and half a block from the subway stop. We would definitely stay here again!

The Chelsea Pines Inn is in a excellent location in Chelsea. It is walking distance to the HIghline and Chelsea Market. It is only a half block from the subway. The staff is very helpful and went out of their way to get us discount tickets and advise us about meals. I would definitely return to this hotel. Breakfast was great also offering plenty for the vegetarian or non-sugar eating person.

We previously read about this hotel a year ago (summer 2008) but stayed and a more economical hotel for that vacation. We stayed at the Colonial Inn but will never return because our room was the size of a walk-in closet and the continental breakfast area was also too small to fit in so many people staying at that hotel. This time we saved up a little more $ and stayed at The Chelsea Pines and the good reviews made me feel comfortable each time I made research on this hotel. We stayed for 5 nights and were very pleased with the friendly service, our room had enough area to place or luggage, flexible hours of the breakfast area, free use of pc's in the business room, the decor which gave the place a positive and interesting vibe, and having around Charlie the hotel mascot was unique! Lazy but adorable 100%! I felt at home having a cat around because I also have a pet cat. The only little "situation" that I didn't like, but was willing to look over, was that our room was never vacumed during our stay. There was a little piece of paper on the bathroom floor just under the towels which stayed there the whole time along with other bits and papers from our shopping bags in the bedroom. Also, toilettries were only replaced once and we had to even go to the pharmacy to buy soap and shampoo. One day, it was almost 5pm and our room hadn't even been touched so we had to go to reception to mention this. That was about the 3rd or 4th night of our stay and only then did we get toilettries replaced. I thought they were having a shortage of cleaning employees and bathroom articles. In spite of this, I really enjoyed staying here and would come back again even though we do like changing hotels always looking for a new experience and the best stay ever!

We like many others chose the Chelsea Pines because of the great reviews on Trip Advisor and while having been to New York before this was the start of an epic 4 week round the world trip so I was keen for the start to be smooth sailing.

The hotel is great, excellent location, close to Chelsea and the Meatpacking district and some great restaurants and bars. The room was small and yes the hike to the 4th floor with bags packed for 4 weeks of winter travel was challenging, but the bathroom was HUGE by NYC standards, it, the room and the hotel in general were always impeccably clean and with free wi-fi (and a computer centre if you are without a laptop or smartphones), continental breakfasts included are more than adequate and proximity to the Subway brilliant.

After an staff error on check in (which led to our US dollar Visa card being charged twice for the total for the 5 day stay) Al and Jay bent over backwards to rectify the situation, spending time on the phone to my bank, checking in to see the error had been reversed and ultimately providing us with a $50 rebate. They also delivered flowers to our room with a handwritten card apologising for their error and imploring us to not hesitate to let them know if any other problems presented.

Cynics out there might argue this is the very least they should have done, but we were both impressed by their professionalism and contrition upon realising their error. Al and Jay both provided their mobiles for me to check in on the error through the process and were terrific.

Don’t hesitate to book! Chelsea Pines deserves their high rating here!

I only have good things to say about Chelsea Pines Inn. From the moment we arrived we were treated as guests should be. Friendly, helpful with shows and resturant recommendations. The extended breakfast hours in the morning helped alot too. I was made to feel welcome and very well taken care of. Thank you to all the staff at Chelsea PInes Inn. I will definitley be back to see you.
