“Fabulous Location”
Reviewed December 5, 2013

If you're looking for a hotel that is chic and has an absolutely fabulous location, this is the one! My friend and I had a great time here and I highly recommend it to anyone traveling in the city. The staff is great and super helpful and the rooms, although a bit small, are gorgeous. Even the outside of the building looks great. We could even see the Empire State Building clearly from our room!

We have just come back from a four day trip to New York where we stayed at The New Yorker, we were met by Mohammed on arrival who couldn't have been more helpful, having explained to him it was my daughters 21st he presented her with a box of chocolates and a card and did his best to book us into a room with a good view, we were not disappointed as we had a clear view of the Chrysler building and a fairly good view of the Empire State. All of the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The tick tock diner was fantastic value for money and is open 24 hours which is great when you have been on the go all day!! I definetley recommend this hotel....fantastic location, value for money and above all fantastic staff.

We stayed here for 6 nights in Nov 2013 (over thanksgiving) and the best part was most definitely the location - located a few blocks from 5th Avenue and The Empire State Building, with Madison Square Garden across the street and a Subway stop right outside - you couldn't ask for more. Most of the staff were very friendly (ironically not the 'Assistance' staff though!) and helpful, there are ample lifts which are fast and work well, the room was surprisingly quiet (we were on 32nd floor) and the modern AC was quiet and worked well. The shower was old fashioned and a bit mental - it was easy to scald yourself or to freeze which is fine unless you are perhaps older or less mobile (but they may have other rooms better suited in which case), but it was certainly hot and there was no absence of pressure. The rooms were well remodelled in 2001 so are showing their age now, but it was all clean and comfortable, with enough space to accommodate vast quantities of shopping.

There is a business centre where you can check in to your airline and print your boarding passes for free which was a great touch and worked well (surfing is paid per 15mins), and there was also a fitness centre (which we didn't use). There is a restaurant (Coopers) and a diner (Tick-Tocks) on site too, and plenty of eating options close by. We ate in Tick Tocks often as it was convenient, quick, tasty, and cheap, and we also made use of them any 'to-go' outlets in the neighbourhood.

We would definitely recommend this hotel to others!

Room Tip: We were on 32nd floor and it was nice and quiet from the street bussle with an interesting view!

I was very surprised to see the size of the rooms and bathroom. Last time we stayed at a NYC hotel the room was the size of a closet. The location is also perfect. Macy's and Penn Station is a block away. I can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: we were on the 26th floor and it was't noisy at all

I have mixed reviews over this hotel firstly the staff were so friendly and helpful and you could not fault the customer service. Because we were there for two weeks they upgraded us to a larger room which was a welcomed bonus.
Unfortunately the bathroom was filthy with hair matted around the plug hole and on the plug, the toilet left much to be desired but after a bottle of bought bleach we were able to rectify the problem. Some might say why didn't we get housekeeping to do it, it was cleaned by us and we know our own standards.
If you stay at the hotel there are no room drink facilities although you can go and buy your own.
There are numerous places at hand but a bit of a bind first thing.
Towels and bedding was changed as you require they say green I say saving money. It is not a cheap hotel but is at the centre of everything the tourist wants to visit. I recommend that you buy a New York pass for the attractions as it works out much cheaper. Take the chance on the metro it's great fun and you can load up a metro card $2.50 each trip (so cheap) taxies are about half the price of the UK so flag one down and enjoy the yellow cab. Don't get the green cabs as they are more expensive. We walked miles and miles and found loads of things. Take an empty suitcase it's so cheap for branded clothes etc. I have two iPad airs. The apple shop is a 24 hour shop. Incredibly safe travel both walking and on the metro. We went by train to Connecticut for four days $27 return. By the way Muhammad Ali stayed at the New Yorker hotel.

Room Tip: There is also a gym included. Get a room above floor 25

My husband and I stayed there for 4 days in November. It was a nice hotel but with small rooms which are expected in New York. A little updating of the washrooms are needed but still functional. It was in a great location, close to a lot of attractions. We barely stayed in the room because we got the 3 day New York Pass so we wanted to get the most out of it. I'd recommend this place if you want to be close to the action and don't mind small rooms.
