When I got to New York, very tired Mohammed gave me a fabulous upgrade and was a sweet heart to deal.
It is lovely to be warmly welcomed in a strange city!
The room was spacious and resto downstairs had a great happy hour to boot

Stayed here for a week and the hotel is a classic NYC style building from the 1930's. However, as much as the service was good, the location was great, it is an older hotel and the rooms are smaller. But to be able to open your window on a hot NYC summer night, listening to the sounds of the city 20 stories below is pretty incredible. How many modern hotels have windows that open? And to wake up and look out the window while lying in bed and see the Empire State Building glistening in the morning sunlight, its worth the small room and bathroom!
The attached diner is true New York, busy all the time, but good, hearty diner food.
However, in NYC you don't stay in your room...and the location of this hotel is great. Accross from Penn Station, Madison Square Gardens you are only minutes from Macy's, Empire State Building and 10 minutes from Times Square. Easy access to subway and buses.
However, try something different - walk a bit north and west and explore the Hell's Kitchen neighbourhood and make your way down to the Hudson River.
Overall, to stay in this classic Art-Deco style hotel is worth putting up with the small rooms and having no counter space in the small bathrooms because of its history and the great location.

Room Tip: Higher floors facing 8th Ave give you a great view of the Empire State Building.

I stayed here with my parents from july 10 to July 13th and the hotel looks better on the cover than on the inside. First the positives, indeed a great location ( opposite Penn state station and 5 minutes from Macys and 10 minutes walk from Times square ),that' where the feel good drug starts wearing off. They also have an attached 24 hour diner which is pretty decent and a lobby which sets the expectations high only to be dashed once you enter the room

I had to wait for 3 hours to get my room ( which I did get promptly at 3 but not before having asked to check at 1:30 and then once more later), I had booked a room for 3 adults but unless you plan to sleep in some yoga position, the rooms are way too small and as a result the 3 occupants keeps on getting in each other's way thus really spoiling the mood. Also the Wifi which was advertised as complimentary on my hotel voucher was not really complimentary and they offer only the low speed option free for the 1st 12 hours after which the meter starts ticking.

I really would recommend the salisbury hotel on 57th street which offers complimentary breakfast m much bigger rooms for slightly cheaper rates and is bang next to central park

Booked this hotel for a one night stay in NYC while making my connecting journey home to Ireland.

Entrance and lobby look fantastic but always busy and never anywhere to sit and relax.
3 bellman waiting outside the door who don't acknowledge guests unless your arriving in a cab and giving them cash!

Check in was ok,nothing overly exciting! Was told no info about check out times, baggage check,wifi,etc....stuff that you would expect to be told!

Rooms where awful! Small, view over a neighbouring block although had read comments about brilliant views off Empire State and Hudson River.
Hoped into shower that night to find hairs all over it,and then jumped into bed to find the same thing!!

All staff I meet where nothing to write home about, not friendly or helpful!

Location here is perfect for seeing the city, but after paying $250 for 1 night I was expecting a lot more! Will not be returning!
