I stay in NYC for business every other week. The New Yorker is convenient, reasonable, and easy to commute to. Angel and Mohammad at the front desk are always friendly and assist with a smile. I typically stay in a view room, use the weight room.

This hotel is great if you wanna be in the middle of all the action. You can actually feel the NYC pulse even on one of the highest floors (which is rightfully recommended by all other reviewers), where a tiny bit of noise reaches you, not disturbingly, but just enough to give you that feeling that you're actually in one of the world's most populated (and one of the greatest) cities.
Great stay!

Room Tip: Higher floors and corner rooms are the best to choose.

On check-in we discovered our reservation had been messed up. Fortunately we had Mohammed helping us. He went out of his way to sort it out for us and gave us a great room. We could see the Empire State Building from our bed! Thanks Mohammed you made our stay.

This hotel is not 4 star. The lobby is fine but the rooms are not cleaned well. There were crumbs all over nightstand & carpet when we checked into room. The bathroom has a layer of dust all around tiles. In the bathtub there is a soap dish that you only notice when you take a bath that was filthy & moldy. All in all rooms are not 4 star. Rooms are more like a cheap motel that needs to be renovated. Only good point is location is good. Don't stay here.

Room Tip: Rooms on high floors that end in 09 have view of the water

This hotel was in a great location to the subways and walking to Times Square. The rooms are small and the bathrooms are reminiscent of my grandmothers house. The lobby is beautiful with art deco style. Beds are comfortable. We didn't spend much time in the room, so the size didn't matter. I would stay here again.

We arrived in early morning around 7am, hotel staff is very helpful, helped storaged our luggage and let us come back around 10am, they may able to let us a early check in. we came back around 9:30am, the room is already ready, and they give us a free upgrade to a decent view to the empire state building from our window.

Size of the room is small, but you don't stay in the room most of the time. its close to the 5th ave and subway.

Firstly this is a very historic hotel offering a superb glimpse of the Art Deco period.
There are echoes of the 30's ultra chic style dotted around the hotel.
All of the good and the bad have stayed here including the wacky inventor Tesla who also died there way up in the penthouse years ago.

We had a standard room which was ever so slightly small, but perfectly reasonable, the bathroom while not ultra modern was clean and we actually enjoyed seeing some of the original fixtures, again fairly small but then again the city is cramped, this didn't detract from our stay and you can always upgrade for a small fee.

However, we had a view from our window of Madison Square Garden, the Chrysler building and the Empire State Building, all within a few minutes walk, so how could we combplain?! Ideally situated to be close to subways, the aforementioned attractions and with cafes, shops of Broadway and a wonderful, well priced diner called the Tick Tock next door which is actually part of the hotel.
We also felt safe in the hotel and surrounding area.
Do not hesitate staying here.

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking 34th street
