The room we had was.... rather tiny but we took it as one of the "NY-experiences." The location is great, right above a subway station. The check-in/out service was okay, nothing to complain about. The room was quiet and clean.

We actually checked in today! I had to take a minute to share my excellent experience. Mohammad was kind and welcoming when we arrived. The room is beautiful, and the hotel is much more than expected. So glad we chose The New Yorker!

I stayed here with my daughter for her birthday 16th March to 21st March. It was our first trip to New York. We had two double beds in our room and brilliant view of the Empire State Building room2533. The beds are the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The room was big enough and the only time we were in it was to sleep and get ready. The heating was really good which was good as the weather was really cold. Took 2 mins to check in and apart from reporting a bulb out ( and that was replaced straight away) we didn't really speak to many staff as we were too busy. They all seemed really pleasant and welcoming. The tick tock diner was lovely especially for breakfast. Don't eat in McDonald opposite the staff are very rude. TGIF Fridays opposite the hotel was terrible service and had hardly anything on the menu. Hard Rock Cafe was rubbish too. Bubba gump was excellent . The hop on hop off buses are excellent and very good value. We book that before we went. We also booked sex and the city which was good fun. If you see a show queue up at one of the booths in Times Square the tickets are half price for the same night you buy them we saw jersey boys and had brilliant seats . Good location for hotel loved the decor and would def stay here again. I sometimes wonder why people complain on trip advisor, I am fussy and didn't have any complaints. Loved it.

Room Tip: Room 2533 is excellent email the hotel before you travel and be pleasant with the staff . I think pr...

this is a lovely hotel very central for getting around new york only downside was on checking in you are asked for a deposit we were asked for 250 dollars against damage to the room think you should be warned about this at time of booking the hotel staff was very nice room basic but fine we had a lovely view of empire state building didnt think alot of tick tock diner food was very bland and staff only interested in telling you about leaving the tip but would stay at hotel again

Room Tip: ask for room 3320 its a great view

First visit to New York. Not the best of hotels. We had a small room 8ft by 7ft plus ensuite. Found remains of previous occupiers pizza by the bin first night, ok after that.
Location is excellent, 100 yards from Penn Station, 5 minutes to Times Square/Empire State.
No room safe, you have to sign up at reception preferably when you check in otherwise you will queue twice and every time you want to use it.
Free wifi ok
Try the Twins Inn round the corner on 9th Avenue/34th Street friendly staff with good selection of food/drink.
Wohop Chinese in Chinatown excellent.

This is a lovely hotel with stunning art deco architecture. The staff were really helpful, and went the extra mile for us, providing us with a teasmaid. The beds were comfortable and clean; the bathroom was a bit small but was everything we needed. The restaurant downstairs was very convenient, but it was a little expensive. It's very close to a subway station, so it's ideal to get to major sites throughout the city.
