So, we arrive in the States, manage to get though immigration (didn't put the founders through all that year's ago!) and manage by some slim chance to survive the cab ride to the Marmara hotel. First glance, you are greeted by a lot of construction going on which does not make you feel that happy. Once in the hotel itself though, the noise seems to dissipate.
The welcome is warm and uncomplicated which is what you need after 12 or more hours of travelling. The staff there were speedy and soon sort you out with your room keys and also a map of the area if you want it. Communications with regards to the subway are also forthcoming which is good.
Once in your room, you are greeted by a very clean environment which instantly makes you feel at home there. Tv in the living area and also the bedroom if you want to use that. Basic cable was included and mostly news channels but there were some movies on we found in the evenings too if you wanted to stay in. Kitchen area was also very clean and had all the basics you need to cook there including a fridge the size of a small house!
The passports and belongings etc are kept safe by a safe in the bedroom at no extra cost.
The wife exclaimed that the BED was the best she had ever slept in and rest was semi-assured and although the road is busy all night, we managed to sleep quite well - until the construction crews turned up with vigour at 6.30am!
All of the staff were great there, from the desk team to the cleaning staff. The last day we had there, we were out of the room by 11am which is not too early at all - we had a full day before we had to be at the airport and whilst we had checked out, the staff locked our cases away so that we could enjoy the last day without lugging those about with us.
As you are at the top of Manhatton and most of the sightseeing is to be had further south, you find the subway your best friend being about a 10 minute walk from the hotel itself.
In summary, we would go back to the hotel itself for sure but either get a room away from the construction or go back when it's finished. The one possible niggle if I had to find one would be the WiFi. It was free and it did work but on and off - if you wanted to Skype or have a lengthy connection, you would find that it dropped out - not the connection from.the hotel, it seemed to be the internet coming in. This could have possibly been the work going on outside which caused this issue. When it did work, it was a nice fast connection to do almost anything you would need it for.
Had a great time there and if you go, you will too.
