I live in the neighborhood and have had to find an alternate living situation twice now; once planned and once not as my cats and I were evacuated for almost 2 weeks due to hurricane Sandy. The Marmara took us in immediately when there were no other vacancies in the area, and they provided a clean and comfy efficiency apartment for far less cost than the other hotels -- not only not gouging as the others did. Then there is the staff -- fully attentive and immediately accommodating from the warm, welcoming and delightful folks in reception, to the engineering staff that were immediately responsive and creative in assuring my curious cats were safe and to the housekeeping staff who were very hardworking and diligently maintained a clean space for us while being oh so gentle in not causing more distress to us displaced critters while they respectfully cleaned it precisely as I asked... it just doesn't get any better than this best bang for the buck!

Our hearts go out to all those effected by Sandy. We were honored to offer you all the support within our power. How proud we are of the staff which literally worked around the clock to attend to every need. With pleasure I will offer your kind words to Housekeeping, Engineering and the Front Desk. We will continue to keep you, and all impacted tenderly in our thoughts....

We liked the idea of the Marmara because we were traveling with a small child, and wanted some extra room. There was plenty of extra space, which in uptown Manhattan can be rare. That and the kitchenette with dishwasher was a real plus. Unfortunately our stay started off on the wrong foot with a stray hair in an unfortunate location in the bathroom. I wasn't ever really able to get over that, as the carpets were pretty shabby as well. But it was nice to be able to spread out, and the staff downstairs was very accommodating by offering us umbrellas to borrow during our stay. The prices were a bit lower than other nearby hotels, but I would not call this a 4-star, as the website does. Take not this is not a full-service location (no bar, consierge, restaurant etc.)

Room Tip: Construction of the nearby subway stop is loud and begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. I chose a room hopi...

I sincerely regret that we started awkwardly, but thrilled that we were able to offer you the service you so richly deserve. It is a great pleasure that our extra space is well received by so many. The cleanliness and comfort of our Suites is our upmost concern. We are striving to update and improve at every junction. Thank you for your constructive and objective review, we will take it to heart.

We needed a place to stay closer to Mt. Sinai hospital and found Marmara. What a terrific find! The price was reasonable and we got a one bedroom apartment that was simply fantastic. It felt like home instead of a hotel room.

I just spent the whole of Hurricane Sandy in a fantastic, comfortable studio apartment. The service was fantastic, the reception desk bent over backwards over and over again to keep help guests get extra rooms, stay extra, keep us informed. Actually, all personnel were great. Really comfortable apartment.

We spent 8 days at the Marmara, very happy with the location easy access to the green line subway. Great value for money, fully equipped kitchen including dishwasher, suite cleaned on a daily basis and bed linen changed three times during stay. Staff lovely & friendly. Although they have work underway on the second avenue subway, it was not an issue as we were not inconvienced in anyway as we were was out most days when the work was being carried out. I would definately stay at the Marmara again when returning to New York.

We greatly value your feedback. We too are convinced the value lies with our enormous and fully equipped Suites, and of course our “lovely and friendly staff”.
When you return we will “definitely” be thrilled to be your hosts.

We needed a long term hotel because my home was destroyed in a fire. I found the Marmara, an apartment hotel on Manhattan's Upper East Side. The price was roughly equivalent to a sparse hotel room in Midtown, but included a fully equipped kitchen. The staff was wonderful: attentive, responsive, helpful, and friendly. The apartments are beautiful, bright, surrounded by windows, and most with terraces. We ended up staying for seven months, and were made to feel very much at home. I highly recommend the Marmara to tourists and business travelers alike, especially if an apartment suits their needs more than a simple hotel room. There is a temporary inconvenience, the Second Avenue subway construction, so that a high floor or a room on the east side of the hotel is most desirable.

I just spent a week at the Marmara, and it was reasonably pleasant in most ways, but not all. The rate was approximately $300 a night for a one bedroom, which isn't bad for an apartment hotel in Manhattan. It's clean and well maintained, albeit rather plain. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were consistently courteous & helpful. Unfortunately, despite their helpfulness, they were unable to get the wireless to work consistently, which is a significant drawback. There is a small but reasonable gym in the building. For my next extended visit to New York, I would certainly consider the Marmara again if I wanted to stay on the upper East Side, but I would consider looking at other properties at the same time.

We value your honest feedback, which enables growth. Rest assured the wireless consistency is and has been given attention. We realize, this is a measure of the Value you expect. Thank you for recognizing the consistency of our courteous and helpful staff. If your future holds the East Side, our hospitality is yours.
