The bed, dorm room and wash facilities are clean and there is a lot of communal space to chill out in. Owing to its large size it was a little impersonal so if you travel alone you may find it difficult to be put into situations where it's easy to strike up a conversation. That said, I did not do any of the guided tours which are usually are great for meeting people. I would certainly stay there again although I would ask for a room over looking the side of the building as opposed to the road. It was quite noisy at night.

I stayed here twice. The rooms are clean and the location is not too bad. That said the staff are really rude at times and the place is very disorganised - I had to wait to check in until 630pm one night and had to change rooms halfway through my booking

Traveling with a group of 24 students they immediately served us well and served all our needs. The place was clean, friendly and spacious. An excellent place to spend the week. The place had rooms available for activities and food services available late in the night. All amenities within reach. Wifi in the rooms, computers, printers, games etc.

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing exactly wrong with the place but there's nothing great about it either. I paid $59 a night for a premium dorm and wish I hadn't bothered - it was exactly like the dorms I'd stayed in in every other hostel I've been to. Bathrooms were generally clean and plenty of showers. Breakfast was fine although I would have appreciated the offer of fruit juice! As a non-tea or coffee drinker I was forced into over-sweet hot chocolate every morning. Check-in was ok but none of the workers were very friendly (and a couple a bit snappy - probably the result of working in such a massive hostel) and didn't really meet anyone to hang around with which is always a bonus as a solo traveller. It's a bit of a trek up the 1 subway line but that isn't too much of a bother.

Stayed here for 5 nights, ive stayed at alot of hostels and this one is the worst by far.

-Average location [not the worst but still annoying]
-NO ALCOHOL what is this??? hostels are for young people?
-Little kids from school programmes running around and making the place feel like lunchtime at a kindergarden.
-Rude staff, was checking out and wanted my bags looked after while i went quickly to take some last photos....they wouldnt do it without charging me.

They do offer decent pub crawls every night and have a cool movie room but to be honest for young people in there 20's its not the place. I meet alot of people similar age to me there and they also felt the same way as me. It does not have a good vide like many other hostels its kinda too big and full of lots and lots of children. Would not stay again.

Room Tip: Dont get a 12 bed dorm, noisy.

This was a great hostel and really good value. We stayed in late April whilst on a sight seeing break with a friend and it was perfect for what I wanted - somewhere clean and friendly to sleep with a bit of atmosphere.

The hostel provided free towels and shower slippers which were handy, and the rooms and bathrooms/showers were all kept very clean. The breakfast included in the price had a reasonable number of options, and other items were available in the cafe to purchase. The cafe seemed to stay open until very late. The beds were comfortable and lockers were provided for storage (bring your own padlock though).

The location was good - a little out of the way on the upper west side, but about 5-10 min walk to a subway station was perfect and there were plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. Plenty of subway lines serving the station too and until late at night meaning you can come back from a night out very easily.

The place had lots of other visitors and there was a good atmosphere. The hostel also had lots of events organised - from tours in the day time to bar crawls and comedy nights in the evenings. There did seem to be a fair amount of school trip groups staying whilst we were there though.

My only issue was that it was sometimes a bit noisy early in the morning due to traffic from outside - but wasn't a big problem.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this place.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor, preferably on the side that doesn't face the main road.

I loved my stay at the hostelling international. It's in a great location, close to the park, the rooms and bathrooms were very clean and spacious and the staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent common areas.
Hope you'll enjoy your stay as much as I did.
