What a great hotel in mid town Manhattan. It was my first visit to NYC from the UK and I really shopped around for a hotel and found it really hard to choose. I'm so pleased I went for this hotel. Nothing was a problem and I was made to feel so welcome. The hotel reception was always manned. There was only 1 lift which was quite small but adequate for the hotel. I expected the room to be very small going by other reviews of New York hotels but I was pleasantly surprised.

The location was ideal, not too far out but also not in the thick of Times Square action where you would be kept awake at night! It is a 5 minute walk from Grand Central Station and about a 15 minute walk to Times Square. Perfect!

I would definitely stay here again :)

Got relatively good deal on this hotel (245 USD/night). Hotel is completely renovated and looked clean and fresh. Room interior was chic and bold at the same time, I liked it. Room size seemed ok for NY standards. Bathroom clean and comfortable. Wifi worked well. Complementary coffee and tea all day in the lobby. Staff was very friendly and helpful. On the downside: our room was connected to the next room with 1 door (locked of course), we could hear the neighbors very well! Also, my girlfriend had some bedbug bites. Seems like a hit and miss in NY hotels. Locations is perfect, close to the action but in a quiet street. Overall, good experience.

The location in Mid Town is indeed very good.

The hotel staff are very nice and always available.

The rooms are just average, they're not big, but are very clean.

It´s a good HQ to explore NY's Mid Town

I have just completed a three-night stay at the Seton Hotel in Manhattan and what a pleasant experience it was. From the moment I arrived at the hotel to the time I checked out, the hotel staff was very courteous and extremely helpful. The room (with a shared bath) was of an adequate size and very clean. I had been assigned a room at the back of the hotel, i.e. not facing 40th Street so it was very quiet. The bed was quite comfortable as well. The free WiFi at the hotel also worked perfectly. When it came time to leave, the staff ordered a car service to the airport for me and helped me load my luggage (with all my shopping) into the trunk of the town car. Definitely a rare find in a city where hotel room rates are way over the top . . .

Room Tip: If you would like to have a quiet room, ask for one that is located at the back of the hotel of whic...

Stayed at the Seton hotel for 2 nights. Staff are friendly and helpful, room was small with a small double bed as expected. Bathroom was modern with a good shower/pressure. Heating in the room was quite poor, air con unit was cool only and heat was via some central heating system. The lift is very old and slow and more than 3 people is a squeeze. Good location near grand central, we used a transfer service to/from grand central to JFK and walked with our luggage to the hotel, just 1 1/2 blocks.

We wanted an inexpensive hotel for one night in New York before travelling north to visit friends and it was a last minute booking. We booked a double room with shared bathroom but were upgraded to private bathroom. The room was small but adequate, since we only wanted somewhere to sleep after a long flight. The staff were friendly and very helpful. It is only a short walk to Grand Central Station and 42nd Street. The hotel itself is average but the location and price make it very good for a short stay. The free wifi was a bonus to help us stay in touch with family back in Australia and there is free tea/coffee and a guest lounge.

We blindly booked into this hotel by way of a package deal offered by Southwest Airlines. Not having ever seen it, and having read some negative reviews about it after our non refundable booking, we had a bit of trepidation about the property. But our fears were unfounded. It's a perfectly comfortable boutique hotel, recently tastefully renovated, and it's very convenient to subways at Grand Central and to the Newark Express bus service to EWR. Built in the 1920's, we suspect, it has a curiously small elevator that's a bit quirky in its operation but services its riders with no surprises. The staff is exceedingly friendly and seem to have a knack for remembering their guests by room number. The room we had (a double ensuite) was small but hardly cramped. There's a small closet to stow luggage after unpacking into a roomy 3-drawer bureau. Free wifi is a real treat, as New York hotels generally seem to nickel-and-dime guests for this service. And it's quiet! And it's extremely reasonably priced, too!!

On our next trip to the Big Apple, we shall surely try to book in here again, no question about it. We have also enjoyed the nearby Scotty's Diner, also reasonably priced versus its nearby competitors and full of friendly helpful waitstaff. So if you don't require the madness of a Times Square area venue, then The Seton is your kind of home away from home.
