We are relocating from Sydney Australia with two young children and this hotel has really been great. Its not fancy but it is clean and a great location. Everything is in walking distance that you would need . The Upper West Side is just lovely and very kid friendly.

Will recommend all my friends coming over to NYC to stay here.

I was pleased with our stay at the Milburn. The room was clean and comfortable. The air conditioner was a bit noisy so we kept a window open. We stayed on the 10th floor. The place has a slow elevator. We only ate the continental breakfast 1 out of 3 days. The offerings were nice; juice, coffee, bagels, toast and coffee cakes. The location of this hotel was wonderful. The free WIFI and computer lobby were great also. We flew into La Guardia and took the M60 to Broadway/110 and then took the 1 line to 79. It was a 3 block walk down Broadway to the hotel. It was also a quick walk to the 72nd street subway too. Central Park and Riverside Park were both short walks away. We caught the M5 bus at 72 also to go the mass at St Patrick's Cathedral. We also ate at several places in the neighborhood like Big Nick's Pizza, Niko's, Sarabeth's, The Amsterdam Ale House and Cafe Viande.

We've stayed at the Milburn a number of times because our daughter goes to school nearby and it offers suite style space when we travel as a family of four. Rooms are obviously still spacious and convenient upper west side location doesn't change, BUT:
we booked this trip six months in advance, and when we arrived we were put on the 2nd floor despite request for a higher floor. We were placed in Room 201 which had the dining room directly underneath -- people began dragging chairs underneath us and setting up breakfast at the crack of dawn, and an electronic garage door opened and closed all night under our window -- like having a blender turned on next to your ear. We checked the room carefully for bedbugs when we first arrived-- when we lifted the covers to inspect, mattress looked quite worn and saggy with holes in it. We kept our fingers crossed it was just old and worn... Bathroom was beyond cramped and had mildew stains on ceiling and floor -- hooks were broken off so there was no where to hang anything, and sink ledge was too tiny for anything more than a toothbrush, several lightbulbs were burned out in the room, no plastic bags available in closets for dirty laundry. Rooms have tiny kitchenettes -- since the bathroom was so tiny, I used the reflection of the microwave oven to brush my hair and put makeup on! Heater was hard to control and noisy. Good news about 2nd floor was that we could take stairs to avoid slow elevators, but the stair well was dingy. Front desk staff was brusque and chilly though we've stayed there a number of times -- not sure what the issue is there, but it comes across as attitude of some sort. Breakfast room was hot and overcrowded with choice of sugary cereals or sad bagels. so-so coffee. We skipped it after day one of our three night stay. There was free internet available in the lobby with a pass code from the front desk which was nice. Seems to cater to one time international tourist crowd that doesn't necessarily know better. Needs a major spruce up and customer service refresher!

We've stayed at the Milburn 4 or 5 times over the last 12 years. It has been a few years, however, and some negative online reviews made me anxious about this stay. Little had changed, I'm glad to say. That said, the emphasis is on value, not top-end quality. Nearby grocery stores coupled with a refrigerator and microwave and inexpensive restaurants and the Milburn's spacious suites make it a great choice for families, which is how we used it before. The great neighborhood, nearby Riverside Park and Central Park are big pluses. Negatives are very small bathrooms, sometimes noisy steam pipes and a bit of a pinch-penny attitude. Still, we will return.

The Milburn is in an excellent location two blocks from Central Park and 5 minutes walk from the 72nd and Broadway subway on the red line which makes it very easy to get to all the attractions you are likely to want to see. The hotel is situated in a side road in a good neighbourhood and is quiet at night. The hotel is a bit dated in decor, which is probably why it is relatively cheap, but very clean and comfortable. The accommodation consisted of a very well furnished sitting room, small kitchenette and bedroom with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. This would be ideal for a family with young children. There was a TV in the bedroom and one in the sitting room making it possible to put the kids to bed and spend the evening in. Breaksfast was included and very adequate. There is no bar or restaurant but plenty in the neighbourhood and food markets also if you want to eat in.
