In a quiet Upper West Side neighborhood, the Milburn Hotel is excellent. Wonderfully friendly and helpful front desk staff. We were upgraded from a queen to a king suite. Very spacious living room, kitchenette (with microwave, fridge, and dishes), bedroom and bath. The windows actually open! A TV and entertainment console in the living room and bedroom. Lots of closet and drawer space. Morning breakfast is a choice of yogurt, pastries, fresh fruit, waffles, cereals, and beverages. The wait staff in the eating room is so pleasant and cheerful, they set the tone for the rest of your day. About 5 blocks from Central Park and 2 blocks from the Hudson River Parkway. Free access to the JCC with pool one block away. Plenty of good neighborhood restaurants on Amsterdam Ave. one block away. Laundry facilities in the PM. The lobby sitting area is serene and comfortable to relax in. Two convenient subway stations with 3-4 blocks.

This was our 4th or 5th visit to the Milburn -- and the best yet. Looking at reviews, I asked for a floor and area, and though they couldn't give me 100% of my request -- the suite we did get was just as terrific, sunny, with an amazing view of the Hudson River. We'd happily stay in it again. I'd noted this was an anniversary -- and they obviously paid attention. This room had one of the extremely small baths some reviewers had noticed -- but frankly I'll take the good sized other space and great view over the bathroom size any time. Bath was clean etc -- just tight.

I think the Milburn Staff has been working hard on customer service b/c they were noticeably more pleasant (and hadn't been bad) than in previous visits -- and the hotel was very full. A new HVAC system means quieter and better temperature controlled rooms - also great. We get a suite here b/c the $$ is equivalent to many miniscule rooms at other NY hotels. There is a continental breakfast, pretty basic -- but comes with the room, and gets you going in the morning. Location is great -- a couple of blocks from the express stop at 72nd, so 5 minutes to Times Square and a quick trip to other parts of town. The Milburn is a winner in any part of New York.

The Milburn is well located on the Upper West Side, less than a 5 minute walk to 79th St station, with a trip on the subway (line #1) taking just over 10 minutes uptown to Columbia and the same downtown to Times Square. The hotel is just off Broadway and close to all sorts of shops and restaurants.

The room was large, with a comfy double bed, plenty of pillows and an extra blanket in the cupboard. The kitchenette was welcome and had a coffee maker, fridge, microwave, crockery and a mini bottle of washing up liquid. There was a table and two chairs and also a comfy armchair with extending footrest .Other mod cons included a flat screen tv, alarm clock with iPod dock, an ironing board with iron and a hairdryer. The welcome pack included plenty of information and the latest edition of New York Magazine. The bathroom was spacious with lots of mirrors and a good sized, hot bath/shower. The free Wi-Fi was also great to have.

Breakfast is included at the Milburn - you shouldn't expect fine dining (plastic, disposable bowls, plates and cutlery are used), but it's a good, hearty breakfast, and you can even take away to eat in your room or on the go. There were a selection of cereal boxes, toast, various different bagels, pastries and fruit. On the weekend two waffle irons were on, with a helpful member of staff to make one for you. The only complaint would be that the breakfast room is small and only has around ten tables which, considering there could be 100+ guests at any one time, means that you can't always get a table if coming down at 'peak' time.

The staff at the Milburn were excellent - friendly and helpful at all times, whether they were on the front desk, in the breakfast room or cleaning. My room and all the communal areas were very clean and I got a good few nights' sleep as there was no noise from the street. I would definitely stay at The Milburn again.

First off, the staff was one of the friendliest and most helpful we've EVER met!!! The rooms are VERY large for NYC and include a mini fridge, microwave and dishes! But, if you're looking for a pristine, new hotel, this is not the place for you. It's an older hotel with a homey feel, almost like you're staying in a friend's apartment! There's a little sitting area/library off the lobby and though they don't have a restaurant, there's free continental breakfast until 10am daily! (however the beds were so comfy we rarely made it in time!) And the location is fantastic: Broadway and W. 76th street, walk to Central Park, Natural History Museum, 1-2-3 subway, Greys' Papaya, Serafina, Fairway Market, Shake Shack... you'll feel like you're part of the best neighborhood in NYC! We absolutely loved staying there (for a week) it was definitely NY, but without the insanity of Times Square or uber-noisiness of Midtown. A great place to come "home" to after a day bopping around the city!

The Milburn was a great place to stay both times we visited New York City. The staff are friendly and helpful. They serve breakfast and its location is near a good selection of shops, the subway {train}, & restraunts. Since finding a good priced , two room hotel is hard in NYC, this was a incredibly good value. You get two rooms for a solid price. Overall, the Milburn wasn't a palace, but a good choice for a loyal and comfortable hotel.
