“Great location, polite service”
Reviewed February 5, 2014

We were mostly satisfied with our stay. Its set on a quiet side street in the upper West Side, close to supermarkets and diners for meals on the go. Room was clean with no issues. Kind of dated, but adequate.

The internet never consistently worked. This has been mentioned in previous reviews so I know management is aware of this issue, and just hasn't chosen to repair it. We didn't need it too much, but if you advertise internet as a perk, you should ensure its working. Novel concept.

Thank you for your comments. We are aware of the occasional internet problem due to extensive use and limited bandwidth. We have contracted for a new hi speed fios internet platform and up to date access distribution system which we hope to have in operation by mid March. Free to all guests, as always. We look forward to your return to the Milburn.

The location on West 76th street is ideal. Great supermarkets around the corner and the rooms all have kitchenettes. We travel with our child so being able to prepare our own meals makes things so much easier, although we mix it up and eat out plenty as well as there are heaps of great restaurants close by, including a nice Italian place across the road. We've spent over 30 days at the Milburn across 3 trips and referred heaps of friends from Australia there as well and we've all loved it. Price is cheap compared to most New York hotels and the rooms are much larger. We book the 1 bedroom so we have a large separate living room. Only issue we had as it was a little cold for us this time in the rooms as it was below freezing outside. Rooms were still about 70 but it felt cold at night.

Room Tip: The 1 bedrooms on the high floors are great.

we loved this hotel so much, it was our top choice for this return visit to NYC...great location in upper West Side, on a quiet side street with a breakfast included...but this time stained duvet cover on bed when we arrived to a smaller room than the one for which we had reserved AND paid (front desk manager's rigid response: "but we knew there were only two of you, and it's a busy time of year"), and the response to a request for two extra blankets for the bedsofa that first night: "sorry, you're only allowed one". Sigh. .

We stayed 5 night during New Year before snow storm hit New York. It was our first time in NY and first trip for my husband and son.
The hotel location was walking distance to Central Part and its surrounding. Near hotel were shop where you can buy fruits, quick meals, nice coffee etc. Many nice shops are nearby and you can spend money without going into the city. Metro was not far from hotel.
The room was quite nice with small kitchen, microwave, normal size refrigerator (better that tiny refrigerator normally found in normal hotel).
Breakfast room was tiny but we could take them up to eat in room and even packed for our quick lunch.
Even our room was in front of elevator but the noise was not annoying as it was not heard in room.
We will come back to this city again and we will choose to stay in this hotel again to explore more in surrounding area.

The Milburn Hotel is a terrific option for the realistic traveler who wants quality accommodations in a nice Manhattan neighborhood but doesn’t want to spend a king’s ransom on a hotel room. After looking at dozens of hotels online and reading lots of reviews, I chose the Milburn because it seemed to offer the best combination of reasonable rates, clean comfortable rooms and some nice amenities.
It turned out to be a good decision and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Milburn.
I had reserved the standard studio king since it was the least expensive room available but I was delighted when the desk agent informed me I had been upgraded to a suite at the same rate. The suite consisted of a spacious sleeping room and a connecting sitting room plus a small kitchenette with microwave, coffee maker and a small frig. There were flat panel televisions with cable in each room as well as a small stereo in the sitting room. The bathroom was quite small (seems often to be the case in New York) but had been tastefully updated. Linens and towels were good quality and in good condition.
Free Wi-Fi, complimentary continental breakfast and afternoon coffee and tea service added real value and the accommodating desk staff were helpful and efficient. The lobby is lovely and has the genteel feeling of a nice residential hotel. The neighborhood is residential and quiet but the hotel is only about 3 blocks from a subway station.
Obviously, this is not a 5 star property so it’s important to be a realistic traveler. There are only 2 older elevators that are quite small and rather slow. The hallways, although updated, seem narrow and somewhat dark compared to more contemporary hotels. Room furnishings are adequate but uninspired and the love seat in my sitting room had stains on the cushions. The free Wi-Fi was great but guests are required to pick up a new access code at the reception desk every 2 days which was a bit of a hassle.
The room where the continental breakfast is served is a bit small and always seemed too warm and table space is limited. While the upper west side location is comparatively peaceful, it isn’t the ideal location for people who want to be in the center of things.

Room Tip: Whenever possible, book directly with the hotel. Their cancellation policy is more lenient that mos...

We stayed at the Milburn for three nights in December 2013. We had a one bedroom suite on the tenth floor which was spacious, quiet, and had a separate living room with a twin pull out couch that was perfect for our daughter. The room also had a mini fridge, coffeemaker, and microwave, helpful for storing leftovers or having a little something in the room. The room was charming, older NY style with some definitely updated elements in the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. Staff were helpful, we were able to store our luggage safely at check in and check out. Staff were also very helpful at breakfast, making waffles and otherwise facilitating. Breakfast was simple and totally adequate. This hotel is in a great Upper West Side location, perfect for access to great meals, fun sights and shopping, and easy transportation to other areas of the city. I will absolutely stay here again.

The Milburn was recommended to my by a friend when I was headed to visit him in NYC. I have stayed there three times now and have never had a negative experience. The hotel is clean. The staff is helpful and friendly. It is only a few blocks from central Park West and I love to walk all over the city!
