My son and I stayed at the Milburn recently on a last-minute trip to NYC. Staff very friendly, room small but charming and clean, bed extremely comfortable! Great location, just a few blocks to the MTA stop and lots of restaurants and stores in the neighborhood. The continental breakfast wasn't terribly exciting but was adequate (cereal, coffee, yogurt, breads/bagels). We had a strange experience visiting the JCC pool (a pass is included in your stay) - the woman who ran the pool area was extremely controlling and it made for a less than relaxed swim - pool would be fine for laps but really isn't set up for fun. But other than that, really a nice, cost effective find.

Great location on the upper west side of town. Had 2 double beds, a bathroom and a very small kitchenette but it was big enough for our family of 4. Breakfast room is small so either go early, wait or take stuff back to your room like we did. Its about a 30 min walk or a 15 min ride from the subway which is a couple of steeets down to Times Square. Very quiet at night. Great area if you want to be close to the action but not staying in the madness! I found charging for printing paper off the computer a bit petty but we would definitely consider staying here again.

We stayed at the Milburn for 10 days to visit our son & family who live nearby on 81st. We found the accomodations very clean with upgraded bathrooms and a nice kitchenette with MW, fridge, sink and dinnerware. Very handy for heating leftovers or prepared foods or frozen entrees. The staff was friendly and promptly fixed a loose faucet handle in the bath. They also provide complimentary breakfast (rare i Manhattan) with choice of cereal, yogurt, bagel, fruit, juice, coffee. We stayed in a junior suite on first floor with Q-bed, a table & chairs and 3 sitting chairts as well as a flat panel TV and a DVD player. It is conveniently located to groceries (Westside & Zabars), several restaurants (recommend Big Nicks and Arties for short orders) and the subway (#1 at 79th). Will defintely stay again when we re-visit.

Room Tip: We stayed on 1st floor so no need for elevator and quick to get to complimentary breakfast. One disadvantage to this particular junior suite (101) was the room layout which was sort of L shaped so you could only view TV from the bed and chair next to it..However it was large and had a large bath.

Maybe it was the whole excitement of being in New York for the first time, but this place really felt classy in the old 1940s style. The room we had was big and nicely decorated. New York has a bad reputation for expensive hotels with messy, small rooms. This is definitely an exception. The room was very clean and big. It even had a quaint kitchenette.
I have to admit that apart from the impeccable living conditions, what really impressed me was the fireplace/library lounge area, luxuriously decorated, and the old mailbox next to the elevators.
In mid-august, it was the cheapest hotel we could find. It is also located on the lovely Upper West side, minutes away from the subway, Central Park and The Natural History Museum.
One last detail: the hotel offers a continental breakfast but it was scarce for my needs - no eggs, only bagels/cream cheese, croissants and other starchy foods. I must admit though the bagels were fresh and varied.

Stayed with my family in a suite in The Milburn Hotel for seven nights during mid August 2012. The hotel itself is nothing special (no luxury), the hotel is clean and the staff is friendly, but a big minus was the very small bathroom, and a very small sink I can’t deal with it its very uncomfortable maybe
The free wifi is bad, and the beds for the kids were uncomfortable. The location in Upper West Side is good. Fairways and Zabars are just around the corner and there are nice restaurants around.
Would I stay here again? will put it this way..we stayed, we slept, but I don't know that we would go out of our way to stay there again. Most probably, I will look for better value
