I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn on West 35th on a recent trip to NYC with my gf. My first impression inside was a clean and well lit lobby with professional looking and courteous front desk staff. The elevator doors looks big but is actually quite small inside. Being on a mid floor (10) there were a few times where we had to wait for 2nd or 3rd elevator cars before being able to board to descend. The hotel room is not huge, but not small either. It was within what i was expecting for a NYC hotel room in this price range. Each floor of the hotel wasnt large, and only had ~10 rooms or so. Noise pollution from corridors was minimal.
The room itself was of average size. Both sleeping area and bathroom were clean. I even checked under the mattresses (its a habit of mine). The room had a coffee maker, microwave, mini fridge, TV, desk, among other things.
I had 2 minor gripes about the room. The first was that the heater was a bit loud(we went during winter time). The second was that the windows had a slight draft. I probably only noticed this because I was the closest to the window/heater. There was also a bit of street noise, as there was construction below, but nothing that was sleep disturbing.
Hotel wise, the location is fantastic. Not only is the hotel 15 seconds from the subway entrance, it is at or close to a major subway hub, so you can easily transfer to subways going anywhere in the city, express or local trains both. The hotel is 1 minute walk from Macy's flagship store, and many other shops on 34th. Many restaurants nearby ranked decently on Trip Advisor as well.
