Everyone on staff was very accommodating especially Stacey. The location is close to everything and cabs are at front door they even give you a umbrella to use when it is raining. Will be back for another weekend get away in the fall

I stayed here for 4 nights in September 2013 and had a great time. Not sure what this hotel was before, but you could tell it had been renovated. The room didn't have much of a view, but it didn't matter too much because no one comes to NYC to stay in the room. Room was fairly small, which is common for Manhattan area hotels, but the bathroom was actually pretty large.

It was a pretty no frills hotel, but what definitely made up for that was a staff. Entire front end team was uniquely New York and were super genuine! They all knew the hidden restaurants and "non-tourist" parts of new york and were happy to share it. The street the hotel is on looks a like sketchy at first glance, but you quickly realize that you are right on the edge of the Chelsea/Meatpacking districts. Overall, decent hotel close to everything and a great staff.

We stayed at the hotel for 6 nights, and it was friendly and nice to be there but there were 3 things that didnt work and that was the shower, we couldnt use it, only the bath. The room key was always unuseful and the internetconnection was terrible, very slow or didn't work at all most of the time. Otherwise was it just nice and cozy and friendly staff. I would stay there again if these things would be fixed. The location is great.

This is our new hotel when attending shows at the Javitz.
Rates are reasonable, rooms are clean, and the staff were all very pleasant and helpful to us.
Thank you to Mr. Lawrence Hou and staff.
We will see you again next year.

We were a group of 4 girls staying here in march. The hotel was very clean and the staff love but I would say the room was far too small for 4. That's our fault though, should have planned it a bit better! I would definitely recommend this hotel for location and it's a bonus that pie face is just a block away where you get lovely nibbles and coffee. Perfect for a quick breakfast before a long day sight seeing. It was my 30th while I was there and the lovely staff gave me flower and cupcakes for us all! Very nice touch. I would definitely stay here again but just have less people in my room.

Was going to a trade show at the Javits convention center and found the GEM hotel online. It could not have been more convenient. A 3 block walk and there I was. Checking in was a breeze. Parking is across the street (and reasonably priced). Everyone I met on the staff was pleasant, friendly and helpful. The rooms are on the small side (but so are most NYC rooms) but the bathroom was spacious enough. Free internet is always nice to have. The only down side would be, you are not right in the middle of things. It's a 3 block walk to the busier section of town. Never felt unsafe though.
I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel was amazing, I went on a school tour to NYC in February and we stayed in this hotel, To some hotels the thought of having 30 something teenage students staying there might be terrifying but the staff at the Gem hotel were excellent to us! they provided us with maps and information on where everything was. I don't know her name but the young blonde girl who was working on reception was excellent and we had some great conversations. The hotel itself was spotless and we left every morning and came back every evening to a cleaned room! It was in walking distance of everything and suited us perfectly! altho the breakfast that was served across the road was not to our liking, some of our tour did enjoy it! PLUS the hotel was located beside Dunkin Donuts so we were ok! thank you so much to the gem hotel who made our stay in NYC so amazing! one final thing! on the day of checkout the hotel allowed us to leave our bags there after checkout as we did some final sight seeing (shopping!) I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for somewhere to stay in the city! plus the price was pretty reasonable! p.s the rooms were Fab keep up the good work! :)

Room Tip: our room was located at the front of the building on the 8th floor The view was excellent as you cou...
