I hesitate to give this hotel a good review because I don't want anyone else to know about it. A walk to Penn Station. A walk to the Javitz. A walk to good bars and restaurants. A walk to Port Authority (but why would you!). Friendly front desk. Very comfortable bed. VERY clean. Great water pressure. Great wifi connection.

No amenities. No big lobby. No pool. No bar. No restaurant. No food. Complimentary water though. Room is small but seriously - if you're staying in your room, then why are you in NYC?

This place is aptly named. If you're in midtown for business, especially at the Javitz, you'd be a fool not to stay here. But you didn't hear it from me.

No frills hotel in kinda the middle of nowhere. I've stayed at the other two Gems in Chelsea and lower Manhattan area and although they're not deluxe or amazing, this Gem was like their entry level sibling.
Folks at reception incl GM are super nice. But location is awful. And no real options for breakfast or dinner nearby. You'll have to cab it.

Staff was extremely helpful and friendly! The room was immaculate! Very close to Times Square and other focal points, yet none of the noise and hassle of the "inner city". Will definately stay again soon!

Small rooms, but great Value for your money! The hotel is a short walk from everything that is to see in New York. If your not spending a lot of time in the hotellroom, this hotel has a perfect location .

The GEM was a good place to stay on a college student budget. The room was very clean, and perfect for our price range. However, something 4 girls found a little annoying was the lack of mirrors. There were only mirrors in the bathroom and some full-length mirrors in the room would have been nice. Other than that, the location is great and I would have stayed there again if it weren't for one thing: most of the people I encountered at the front desk in management positions were extremely rude. The receptionists were always super sweet, funny, and helpful, but the management was so rude that I will never stay at the GEM again. They made a mistake with my credit card and I approached them about it, and they not only blamed it on me, when it obviously wasn't my fault, but they were also EXTREMELY rude to me about it. I found this totally unacceptable and am planning on emailing the manager of the hotel about it. Very disappointing.

We are more than happy to have to recomend this hotel, it has a great ubication. The price you pay per room it´s great. The staff of this hotel is excellent, they help in case you need, they are great people. The room is perfect, it was practically new, since they re-modeled. No smoking, you´ll feel, because, they extrictly prohibit, but its not an issue, since you can smoke outside, it has a smoking area. High speed internet, wifi or cable. Convenience stores, a block away, stations near, cabs on the way. Highly recommend. We are more than thankfull with this hotel.

Room Tip: I recommend the front rooms.
