Room was small but come on it's new york. Nice helpful staff upon check in. Didn't spend much time in room traveling throughout the city.

The Doubletree Chelsea is conveniently located near subway access. Just a short walk from Penn Station makes it easy to get anywhere in the area. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I requested additional coffee from the maid but she only had decaf. This was fine with me but later that evening when I returned to the hotel she had left a small bag on my door with regular coffee. It is small gestures like this that make a good stay a great stay.

Newer hotel in the slowly fading 'plant district'. Lived in NYC so room size was plenty ample- location notcan issue (near homeless soup kitchen on 31st St.) Frannie, the concierge, is the best! Easy to get around the city. Mostly tourists at this hotel. Decent business center and cardio area on lower level.

I saw a couple reviews that said the neighbor was 'dicey' or scary. I have to say as a group of woman/girls traveling alone, we did not feel unsafe at all, even when we returned to the hotel fairly late one night.

The front desk staff (William) was very friendly and helpful on check in and check out. The parking garage is close and very convenient.

The only issue I had while staying there was that they upgraded us to a Junior Suite. We didn't really think of it at the time until we got to the room but they must have thought 2 children, 2 adults meant a couple were staying in the room. This wasn't the case, it was my same sexed friend and her child and myself and my child. So I had to sleep on the pull out couch with my daughter and gave my friend the bed. Not a huge deal, the pull out was not that uncomfortable. However, they did not have the bedding in the room and I had to call for it. It was about 11pm at night, we were ready for bed and it took almost 30 minutes for them to bring it up (they had to come twice, brought only towels the first time) and then we were only given sheets. Luckily we travel with pillows and blankets and made it work. I think they would have been accommodating if given the chance but it was still a pain to have to wait that long when I was ready for bed. Also, once the sleeper sofa is pulled out, the room is extremely small as the big coffee table is then in the way. I would definitely stay there again though :)

You usually can't go wrong with a Doubletree hotel (chocolate chip cookies!) ... I wasn't familiar with this one - it's new and a bit off the beaten track, but not hard to find, very new, and very nice!

It looks like they must have recently torn down an old building, with a fairly small footprint, on this lot, then built this new 27 (+/-) floor hotel. That makes for a very small lobby, but that's not an issue. There is a nice breakfast restaurant behind the lobby. Each floor only has 7 or so rooms on it ... a very vertical hotel!

We checked in very early and our room wasn't ready, but the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful ... the front desk clerk called for a bellman, who took our bags very quickly and stored them in the back. We then went out for a short lunch and returned to check into our room. Another bellman showed us to our room ... very professional and very friendly (made us feel very welcomed!)

Room was very small (though not bad for NYC), but modern, clean, and comfortable!

There is a new underground parking garage (under another hotel) diagonally across 29th street, which has a very reasonable rate for Doubletree guests. Our room on the 21st floor had a view of the Empire State Building.

This isn't the heart of the tourist district, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's a short walk to the Empire State Building, the Macy's main store, Madison Square Garden, Time Square, etc. A good location to see mid-town.

Room Tip: High floors (15th or 20th floor and up) on the front of the hotel have views of the Empire State Bui...

Thank you MassCouple2 for your review of our hotel. We are pleased you were able to take advantage of our conveniently located hotel within walking distance to all the great attractions in the Manhattan area. Our hotel does in fact offer great views of the Empire State building with a more quiet atmosphere than right in the middle of the tourist district. We look forward to seeing you again!

Best breakfast service, always friendly with an extra smile - and they will have an espresso machine soon to fulfill the caffeine lover´s dreams :-) The rooms are a quite small, but everything is almost new and very clean. The advantage of a big hotel chain (you know what you get) with a personal service. Recommendation!
