“Best Tea and Scone Spot in NYC”
Reviewed January 15, 2012

Alice's Tea Cup III, with it's quirky atmosphere and it's intriguing decor, was a stellar place for an intimate brunch! With graffito's stripped straight from Alice and Wonderland and a pretty impressive tea list, the ambiance is easily set.

Service was definitely four and a half stars! Due to a pretty long wait (a day in advance reservation is strongly suggested), the maitre d' will give you a call as soon as a table opens. We found that to be pretty effective and it allowed for us to explore the area. And although we were unable to be moved away from the door- due to the small nature of the restaurant- the staff was very aware as well as apologetic and otherwise accommodating.

An absolute must are their scones! As their signature item, they've really honed the art of making amazing scones and have a pretty expansive list worth exploring!

The pluses:
Fresh and tasty food.
Great for couples.
Nice ambiance.
Service was exceptional.

The considerations:
Small location.
Long waits.
Not great for a group.

“Call ahead and make reservation-- it's a thrill for toddler”
Reviewed August 19, 2011

This location is TINY so call ahead and make reservation, and yes they can accomdate parking a stroller for the toddler but it needs to be collapsible. There are high chairs also. The staff is great, tolerate and professional. But beware---this is a samall space with only a few tables so "waiting to be seated is really cramped"

We share the Grand tea--3 types of scones, 2 types sandwiches, 1 fancy dessert and big pot of tea or 2 individual pots--around $22 each person-- the toddler shared--there was plenty of food!

The toddler loved the scones and egg sandwiches, and was mesmerized by all the people and goings on etc--The food and service were great--

“So cute and generous portions”
Reviewed March 6, 2011

I dragged my hubby along to this little gem for afternoon tea. It was pricey, but I've seen far worse for far more. Go hungry. The tea for 2 is massive. The tea is great. Don't be in a rush and don't be surprised if you have to wait for a table. It is tiny.

“Yummy food. Fun experience.”
Reviewed January 17, 2011

Just went tonight after a long day at the museum. The room was perfectly decorated for a fairy tea party. It is small so I can understand why it's so tough to get in but our table was available as soon as our reservation time came up. Food was yummy and plentiful. I was expecting food more akin to the city's hotel teas and ended up bringing home more than I ate there.

The only fault I can say is the place needs a better ventilation system. It smelled of a smoky grill pan walking in and we smelled like it walking out. Small price to pay for cozy, good eats with a bit of fairy dust.

“Wonderful Experience”
Reviewed September 5, 2010

This place is fantastic. We went for breakfast, and were seated immediately. Our waiter was absolutely wondeful. Made the experience for us. The inside wasn't quite what I expected, though there were some cute things. I absolutely adored the pink bench seats. I highly reccomend the Green Tea entitled Serenitea. It was absolutely the best tea I have ever had in my life. Delicious. Apparently getting two scones is the same price as getting one scone, so the two of us getting scones decided to try one of each. The Lemon Ginger scones were by far the best, and absolutely delicious. They were wonderful. The blueberry cream cheese scones were good aswell. The chocolate chip scones were slightly overcooked, so not worth it, but that may have been just that day. An overall wonderful experience. The best overall food experience of our vacation. And a short walk from the Met, so go for breakfast before you go there, like we did.
