“Cute boutique hotel at perfect location and price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013

This is an ultra chic boutique hotel. We stayed on the 4th floor, though the passage often had smell of food, the room is one of the most unique one seen around. ONe of the wall had a puzzle all over and we had to find the words related to NYC. The bathroom is nice, has funny things written and they have made full use of every little space available. The station is around the corner - 28tth street and herald square is 2 streets away where you're connected to most of the trains for travelling across NYC. Times square, herald square, Rockefeller square, Macy's, Empire state building all are walking distance!

We really liked this hotel. Good range of room options and prices, great restaurants, shops, and services. Nice lounge & staff. Not my favorite neighborhood but central and near public transit. Would definitely stay here again.

I loved the location, the space and unique set-up. Rooms aren't huge but every single detail of the space has been well thought out. Clyde Common and Stumptown Coffee are certainly the cherries on top of the ice cream sundae that is the Ace Hotel. My boyfriend preferred a more spacious hotel room, but I think you could upgrade to a larger room if avail.

This hotel is very succesful in NYC and indeed has a great feel to it. I would say it feels like a Converse x John Varvatos hotel and the light plan for sure creates a special atmosphere. We held meetings and the sound engineer was very kind and helpful. Rooms are nice, lobby is cool too, only very challenging to have a drink as there are so many locals that want to be seen here, there is barely any room for guests!

The Ace is great value for money. Hands down it beats anything in the sub $250 group. It's also a little bit cool. Only downside is Dark lobby bar and location of 29th. There's just not a whole lot nearby. Having said that Stumptown and the Bressenden bar seem to give folks a reason to visit.

Great Hotel, excellent location! Reception staff very helpful, stayed in a bunk room for one night, nice but very small, got upgraded to a king size double for free which was amazing. Never ate in the restaurant, queues for coffee always long and the lounge was always busy! I definitely would stay there again and recommend it to friends!

Room Tip: be-careful booking through last minute .com as their double twin room is a bunk room! we stayed on...

Everything about this place is fantastic. From our initial contact with the reservations staff until the moment we drove away after our four-night stay, we were treated to fabulously attentive service and a super atmosphere.

I traveled with two teenagers, and we all loved the Ace. My boys especially loved their bunk beds, the acoustic guitar in their room, the free wifi and the "Not Now" door magnet that allowed them to sleep to their hearts' content in the mornings (or, rather, afternoons.) Traveling with children, I was very pleased with the cleanliness and the safety of the hotel.

My medium-sized room was quite large and had a wonderful view of the Empire State building, which was lit with green lights in honor of St. Patrick's Day. Although a bit more space for hanging clothes would have been nice, there was plenty of storage for folded clothes and shoes in the bedside stands, the open cubes on the wall and the huge storage table in the sitting area. The bathroom was nice and big with great dim-able lighting and super toiletries. Love the soap from Pearl + and ordered some once I got home.

The lobby area seems to be a favorite hang-out for tourists and locals alike. There's a pleasant busy hum of activity all day long. I got super-fast coffee service in the morning and enjoyed the free wifi and comfy chairs (while waiting for those pesky teenagers to awaken.) At night, the bar at the back of the lobby is super crowded and noisy, but in a good, upbeat way. The one time I visited, it did take some doing to muscle through the crowd and to get the attention of the bartender; maybe it was just because I'm an old mom - the nighttime crowd was definitely younger!

The two dining/drinking options off the lobby, the John Dory oyster bar and the Breslin restaurant, were fantastic. Great local beers on tap and friendly bartenders at both spots. We loved the lamb burger at the Breslin. Perfect for a late night after-theatre meal.

The Ace is in a terrific location; a quick walk to the Flatiron district (and the awesome-for-hungry-teenagers EATALY) and far enough away from the madness of Times Square/Theatre district but close enough for a safe and easy stroll back after a show. One great thing about the location is the lack of restaurants/bars/nightlife in the blocks immediately surrounding The Ace; it makes for quiet streets and good sleeping.

Highly recommend this place!

Dear BeNicetoEveryone:

Wow! Wow! Wow! This was such a great review to read and share with staff. I love that you purchased a reminder of your stay when you returned home (the Pearl + soap is delightful!). I love that the teenagers slept late while you relaxed and had coffee in the lobby. It sounds like quality family time indeed and I hope you will come back soon.
Thank you so much-
Lisa and the Ace NY Staff
